If she doesn't have a contract, I would ask her for a receipt to document how much has been paid, as well as an invoice for how much is due for the day of. If she isn't willing to provide those, then I'd be very careful!
Luvbug I am in a very similar situation. Mine has a contract but wants 100% of the payment two weeks before the wedding. I just saw your post after I submitted mine! You should however get a contract from all vendors no matter what.
Okay, she just e-mailed me back and said she would invoice me and that it would show the amount I had put down and also what was due and it would serve as our contract. *whew* I feel better now, I just wasn't comfortable putting that much down with no documentaion.
Thanks ladies.
Bloom- I wonder if she needs it up front to buy supplies or something. How annoying that she needs it all before! Are you paying for your girls or are they paying? That would make it tough for you to collect $$ from everyone before the due date.

Hello hive.
I have found a hairdresser on craigslist who will come to the hotel to work on my make-up and hair for the girls. I will be meeting with her tomorrow for my make up trial.
She requires a 50% deposit for the services she'll be providing. I have 6 girls who need their hair done, so, as you can imagine, this is not a small fee. I'm fine with putting the deposit down, but I asked if she had a contract and she said no. I've never gotten my hair/make up done where I've needed a deposit so i'm not sure if this is normal or not.
How can I make sure that the deposit I put down goes towards the balance of the bill on the date due, or better yet, how do i know she's even going to show up? Did anyone else have to put a deposit down and have no contract or anything to show for it?
