Hey Bees, Need your advice.
My wedding is on a Saturday with a ceremony start time at 4:30 pm.
We are doing a first look at 1:30.
Hair is done at the salon, and make-up at a different location (My hair dresser only does hair at her salon, and make-up was an extra $55 per person to have them come out!) They are 15 minutes apart.
For hair it’s me, my mom and 2 bridesmaids.
Make-up – Me and two bridesmaids.
My initial plan:
hair – 8 am (bride + mom + 2 BMs, and 2 or 3 hairdressers)
Make-up – 10 -12am (bride + 2 bridesmaids, 2 make up artists)
Noonish – Put dress on, etc. at my house (10 mins away from make-up place)
1:15pm – Leave for first look
1:30pm – first look
Is 8 am too early for hair? I don’t want it to be a hot mess by the end of the night!
Am I budgeting too much time?

We did pretty much your timeline – we did hair starting at 8:00am and makeup when we were done hair which was about 10:00
There was me, my mom and my 4 bridesmaids. We started getting ready (dresses, shoes, accessories) around 1:00, ceremony was at 2:30.

@LoveLaceandWine: We are staring hair/makeup at 10, ceremony at 4. Hair and makeup is at my house, and we have to be at the church at 3. There are 5 people so that’s 1 hour/person, but we are having 2 people (seperate hair and makeup stylists) so it won’t necessarily take that long.

@jb20: You’re lucky!
I really want make-up and hair at my house (or hotel, we haven’t decided yet), but its just so much extra! I can’t ask the girls to spend $130 on make-up then another $70 on hair! And I don’t have the extra to pay another $200 to have the make-up artists alone come out!

@LoveLaceandWine: A friend of my Maid/Matron of Honor works at a salon, and I contracted her and her co-worker. My wedding is on a Sunday when the salon is closed, they were great with their prices because they weren’t going to be working that day anyways! The only stipulation they had within the contract is that if people ask or I post social media pictures, I am supposed to say “XXX did it, she works at ZZZ salon”.
It seriously just sort of worked out really well.

- Wedding: September 2014 - Banff, Alberta
My ceremony is at 1 and we are doing make-up ourselves and starting hair at 9. The hair dresser is coming to the hotel and the hotel is right beside the ceremony site so no transportation at all in between. I thought that wasn’t enough time but my mom is a hair dresser and she is bringing one of her employees to do our hair and said it will be enough time.
