How long does bridal hair/makeup usually take? I am trying to negotiate with a salon that won't be ready to take the bridal party until 1 pm for hair/makeup. The ceremony is at 4. The salon is 30-40 minutes away from the church, so we'd probably want to be out of there by 2:30 at the latest to get to the church to get dressed, right? Would it even make sense to do it at this salon or should I go somewhere a) closer and b) with an earlier time slot? my broad questions are:

a) How long does bridal hair/makeup--especially if you've got four bridesmaids + mom + future mom-in-law--take?

b) How much time should I allot to getting ready at the church, i.e. putting the dress and shoes and stuff on?

I usually schedule between 30 and 40 minutes per makeup, depending on the intensity of the look and if false eyelashes will be applied. I then try to factor in an extra 30 minute cushion to cover bathroom breaks, girls getting lost, hair running late, etc. So for your group of 7 women I would prefer to have at least 4 hours, but could get by with 3 1/2.

As for hair, it seems to take between 30 minutes and 1 hour per person, depending on what the style is.

Unless this salon has several stylists and makeup artists working on your bridal party at the same time, it does not seem possable to complete seven women between 1PM and 2:30. Before booking them I would ask them to complete a schedule to show you all of services to be done and how their timing will work.
