@MrsCunningham2B: Would I put it on the less hair-heavy side, then? I'm still planning on some sort of bangs (which is why I liked the first one so much), too.
I think I will probably call around this week to see what different rates are like at various salons and whatnot. I'm excited--I want to get started as soon as possible, heh. Does anyone have any other suggestions for hair?
How do you normally prefer your part?
I think you and I have the same face shape. rounder up top with a pointy chin...sort of like a heart shape face? I often prefer parting in the middle but a bit off center. because when i part it on the side it makes my face look really round. if you're concerned about that....then i would go with #1 and still use the fascinator on the side you prefer for photos.
On #3, Bangs with it may look off.
@MrsCunningham2B: I have mine parted a bit off-center, too! It does that naturally...and yeah, I guess my face is a little heart-shaped (though I thought heart-shaped faces had to have a widow's peak as well). I like the softness of #1 and #2 is just awesome.
Actually, here are two horrifically unflattering photos from about a month ago (before my haircut).
I look displeased because the downstairs neighbors were being hella freakin' noisy! The square glasses might kill any retro look, but that just gives you an idea of what I'm working with here, lol.
@Statutory Grape: Awww! you have a b-u-tifull face. And you do have a lot of hair. I think if you tried for #3 you would end up with waves like #1&2, just with a side part. I don't think you should cover your face with bangs, just layers that will give you those soft waves.
AND you have really long lashes too!!! If i had lashes like yours, I would use it to my advantage. see pics!
A nice shade of blush and lipstick or gloss to complement your eyes

eyes to look more like this.
@MrsCunningham2B: Awwww, thank you, haha. It's not really thick, but there's a ton of it. I think the reason I'm shying away from #3 is because the part seems too harsh, but I'm sure it'd look softer if the stylist added some nice volume and played up the waves. I'm definitely going to play up my eyes! Maybe no lipstick, but definitely some blush so I don't look like a ghost (I generally don't use it because I don't know how to do it well).
This is a good link for 40s makeup I just found, too: http://www.return2style.de/swingstyle/makeup/40amimup.html

@MrsCunningham2B: I want that star headdress at the top of the page...oh baby. D'you think it'd be too much? ;P
@Statutory Grape: maybe just a tad bit ;P
well, which ever hair style you decide to do on the trial....do share!
I voted for three, though they're all lovely. I voted to wait later for the trial, because that's what my stylist recommended so that the style would be fresh in her mind on the wedding day. We actually did my trial just six days before the wedding and worked out the kinks that evening, it all turned out fantastic on the big day.
@LittlestBirds: That makes sense; then again, I like simpler styles, so it shouldn't be terribly difficult to replicate the day of. :)

Even though we're doing a small courthouse wedding, I still want to have my hair and makeup done so I look nice (since I am wearing the dress I purchased for the wedding!).
That being said, I need to pull together some different options for hair and makeup because I am assuming I should book the salon and do my trial ASAP (we're two months out, omg!). Would the middle of this month be too early?
For makeup, I'm thinking something pretty yet very understated, a la the 1940s. I don't wear a ton of makeup on a daily basis--just some foundation and eyeliner and maybe mascara--so I think it'll work out well.
Hair's a bit trickier. I'm planning to wear my glasses and I have a slightly round face with a pointed chin, so I don't want to have it all away from my face (too school-marmish, imo) or in any sort of updo (too formal for a courthouse!). I'm still leaning heavily toward a Lana Turner-esque hairstyle, which is pretty but casual. I'm also having a hair fascinator, as per the original plan, hehe. My hair is a little longer than shoulder-length and is very naturally wavy/curly.
So, which of these hairstyles would you pick, in light of the change in plans?
