Ok Don't do exactly this hairstyle (unless it's the look you're going for) but think of Olivia Newton John at the end of Grease. It was kind of like having a half up hairdo but only on one half of her head....does that make any sense? You might be able to play off of that style a little. It would mean you get to have your hair down for the most part but then you could clip up the side that has the strap so that you could still show it off.
@SenoritaRita3: LOL no, I think I get what your saying. Like pin it back on the one side while leaving the other side down. It could work...maybe a deep part and some retro waves.
Low side pony thats a little messy.Would that count as being down? Do it on the opposite side of the strap!! It will look gorgeous!!
I was going to suggest the same as anabri09 but would your hair be too short for this? Or using a jeweled comb, on the side on your head where the strap of the dress is.
@Prewitt: No my hair long and will be longer by March, so thats no problem. But, do you think adding a jeweled comb on the same side as a very jeweled strap would work? or look to overdone? I'm not really knowledgeable when it comes to this stuff! I only wear one peice of jewelry most of the time (and its my E-ring). I just dont want to blind people with too much of me bedazzled, ya know?
I have the same EXACT issue. I also have a one shoulder dress and am so self conscious of my back/arms/shoulders-- I was originally thinking the side pony like Carrie Underwood but here are some others I came up with-- hope it helps!

I'm also using a head piece on the other side of the strap:

Mmm yeah I was afraid of it being too much and if there is quite a bit of jewel on the strap then it may look overdone. As you say your hair will be long enough I do like the look of when the hair is up or you could have half up and down and it's swept forward over the shoulder, as other bees have shown.
I dont have any of me in my dress...my bridesmaid was taking all the pics, and she has them. but this is the dress:

But I think I look better in it than the model. lol. will try to get the ones of me in it up too! as soon as I get a-hold of my bridesmaid :D
VERY similar to my dress but mine's allure and it's chiffon! Gorgeous, love it! Did any of the ones I posted work? I'll try to find some more since I'm looking too!
i had a side do for my wedding day (sweetheart neckline) but i think it'd be perfect for one shoulder dresses!
@Habibah14: Ya I Really liked the hair on Angelina Jolie ....maybe with a little less poof on the top though. :-) I'm now starting to think semi-up-do with lots of loose pieces like this:
I really like this...maybe with a little more hanging down in the back...and birdcage veil instead of headband...Maybe
this is it but its a size too big (clipped in the back big time) and in diamond white...mine will be ivory :)

Hi Bees!
Please help me find some hairstyles that wont look terrible with my one-shoulder wedding dress. it has a sweetheart neckline and one-shoulder (duh). Plus it has a Ton of sparkle where the strap meets the dress.
The catch is I want my hair down...So I need to find a hairstyle that wont take away from the pretty neckline. Oh! also my hair is shoulder blade length and wavy.
