violet182:  Neither are to my tastes; both are too big IMPO, and I wouldn’t buy them even if I was a billionaire lol, because it’s the type of thing I’d wear for ‘fun’, and $300-500k for a ‘fun’ piece of jewellery is kind of ridiculous even if you have all the money in the world.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I generally find that as the price goes up, the less I actually like the ring.

OMG that must have been so much fun to try those on! If I was filthy rich, I would totally rock either of them!

MisterBee:  Agreed!

I find them ostenatious but I have simple tastes.

There’s a market for it though, but I will happily stay out of it 🙂

Unless it came with Ryan Gosling to massage my feet whenever I wanted, no. Nope!

MisterBee:  Me too! I was starting to wonder if I was alone lol.

My tastes just tend to be more reserved, unless it’s for a ‘fun’ piece of jewellery (and by ‘fun’, I mean ‘kinda tacky’, and so wouldn’t spend much). I couldn’t see myself ever going bigger than maybe 1.25 ct MAX for a solitaire for occasional wear, and if it were a centre stone in a halo, no bigger than maybe 0.75ct. That’s just my personal preference. Obviously that could still cost a lot if you got great specs; but nothing like those prices!

violet182:  I’m soooo far from rich it’s not even funny. BUT even if I were, I just don’t think I could go around with $500K on my finger. I just couldn’t. I’m having a hard time thinking about how much is going to be there as it is, and it’s a mere fraction!

LoveBugBee:  Lol! Exactly!!

Um, no.

My boss has a 5.5 ct asscher engagement ring from Cartier that is UNREAL and it was only like $300k.

violet182:  Those prices for those rings is just robbery. Aside from them not at all being my taste, I just don’t think they look nice. Must have been fun to have that much money on your finger though! I tried on a 100k ring in T&Co for fun when FI and I were shopping for something else and it was very entertaining.

LDay1983:  Oh, I know.  And she knows it too.  The ironic part is when we go into meetings with new clients, she turns it around!! Why even have that giant ring if you’re embarassed to wear it!

And get this- before I started working with her professionaly I was her nanny while I was finishing college.  She wanted her diamond reset so she gave the ring to me, flew me to Atlanta and I went to a jeweler and had the ring reset and then flew home.  I felt like I was in a movie or something.

The second one especially looks big but not 250k big! I love it but seriously!! You can get a quality 2 carat for like 30k which is still a ton of money but far from 250k

Tiffany’s “brand” add 100% upcharge to all rings lol! The Yellow one is beautiful but not worth half M $
