As a photographer who have shot weddings and engagements on the beaches, I feel that all beaches are more or less the same. Some beaches in San Franciso may have a landmark (i.e. GGB) background, but most other beaches don't.
I did an enagement shoot in 2006 in Half Moon Bay and took some great pictures on the beach right next to the Hastings House, where the wedding would take place. Didn't find anything specific to the beach.
I would suggest you (or your photographer) to explore more on lighting, poses, and composition. After all, it is all about you and your FI rather than the location. I am sorry that this is probably not the answer you are looking for.

I took my e-pics in Half Moon Bay. There is a beach near the Ritz Carlton that is really nice. You can get a variety of pictures at this location because the beach, Ritz, and HMB golf course is right there.

Hi Ladies!
FI & I will be taking our Epic in Half Moon Bay next weekend. We've drove through there, but don't know the area that well.
Any suggestions on good locations to take pictures, preferably specific beach areas?
