I wear glasses, and cannot wear contacts, and every year, Halloween is depressing. 🙁
Very few “characters” wear glasses (Velma, Daria…) and I feel like if I choose a charater that doesn’t have glasses, I’d look stupid and no one would “get” who I’m trying to dress up as, because of my stupid glasses.
Any ladies with glasses deal with this too? Or am I alone on this one?

@LadyMoriarty: OMG I never thought about this.
Sorry honey – I don’t wear glasses but shit…I love halloween – it must be a royal pain to have to take this into consideration. Honestly….my sympathies.

@LadyMoriarty: I wear glasses… I typically don’t dress up as a specific character but as a more general person who may or may not be wearing glasses, and in my case is 😛

i totally never thought about this either!
Last year I was Luna Lovegood with her fun Spectrespecs! It was fun! But I’m also a huge HP nerd … lol

@LadyMoriarty: I know exactly how you feel. Heck , even just trying to dress up or lay my head on fiance’s chest is depressing with glasses on.

@LadyMoriarty: Some of these are male characters, but I tink they’re fun ones that would be just as cool if a girl dressed up that way. Go as:
The 10th Doctor.
A generic scientist.
A mad scientist.
A carpenter/welder/construction worker (safety glasses).
A classic nerd (pants hiked up, bad hair, etc.)
Amy Farrah Fowler, or Bernadette from Big Bang Theory.
The Japanese guy from Heroes (can’t remember the character’s name).
An old lady.
John Lennon. Your SO could go as Yoko Ono – so many laughs you’ll get.
A 1950’s teacher.
Penelope Garcia from Criminal Minds.
Clark Kent, SO could be Superman.
The new Q from James Bond, I think, but maybe I’m remembering wrong.
Mrs. Doubtfire – and your SO could go as Sally Field, or Pierce Brosnan, or the male half of the character; this one could be fun!
Milton from Office Space.
Rocky & Adrian; she wears glasses.
Olive from Little Miss Sunshine – that could be hilarious!
Meg Grffin from Family Guy
Ralphie from A Christmas Story
SO could be Indiana Jones, and you could be his Dad (Sean Connery’s character)
or, basically any generic costume that is person-based can have glasses.

@LadyMoriarty: OH WAIT I JUST TOPPED THEM ALL!
Get a white coat, and put your name tag on it – be a near-sighted gynecologist, or a near-sighted proctologist! If you like jokes that are a bit rude, that is.

Yeah I dealt with that. Honestly though it didn’t stop me from dressing up as whatever I wanted! I’d just rock the glasses regardless.
I’ve always loved historical costumes, and I’d wear my glasses even though it was wrong for the period. The only character costumes I did were in groups, so it was obvious who I was supposed to be even though I was wearing glasses. Generic costumes like witch or vampire, I didn’t even think about it, of course witches and vampires wear glasses 8)
The only thing that bummed me out about wearing glasses was that it wasn’t feasible for me to wear ridiculous novelty contact lenses… some of those things are cool looking!
