@hotpinkbride:  I think it depends on your guests, are they mostly mon-fri people? Or do they have a mixed sked like me?

Either the Saturday closest to Halloween or Actual Halloween.
I have kids so I would probably only have a sitter for Halloween evening after trick or treating.

@hotpinkbride:  I voted for October 26 because I have thrown many Halloween parties and the turnout is always better the weekend before Halloween.  But November 1 is All Saints Day as well as Dia de los Muertos so you could do a really cool Day of the Dead theme.  But throwing a Halloween party on a Friday is tough because people have to go home from work and then get changed/dressed up so it may cut down on the funness of costumes since people wouldn’t have all day to get ready like they do on a Saturday.  I still stick with my vote for the Saturday before.

Saturday before! Then people are still excited about the holiday, as opposed to after  when everyone is already over it.

And as a fellow mon-fri worker, I would defiantely prefer the weekend!

@hotpinkbride:  I’m going out to party on Halloween this year even though it’s a Thursday but it’s only because I took the week before our wedding off of work so we could spend time with guests that are flying in early from the UK.

All the excitement is gone after the actual holiday, so stick with before.  And on the actual day, everyone is taking their kids trick-or-treating or staying home to hand out candy and guarding their house from hooligans with eggs.
