I’m just got engaged. Yay! Kudos to my fiance (the best man on earth) who gave me this beauty but I’m not a fan of it being set so high up from the halo. I’m thinking about going back to the jeweler to reset the center stone. I’d like to see pictures of your halo from the side (and top as well) so I can have some idea as to how low the diamond should set.
Thanks a lot!!

it’s so beautiful the way it’s set! Besides I don’t know if a jewelry could ‘lower’ the diamond to the cushion cut, because the prongs seem to be permanently set and woulldn’t allow for the diamond to be set lower. But seriously, it has a very classic look set higher.

@kurapika168: Congrats on the engagement! Your ring is lovely! I will agree that it sits a little high – likely because the setting itself might be a little small for your stone. I just looked at mine, and it’s definitely lower and “in” the setting more. To be honest, I’d be a little worried about knocking it and having a prong bend or worse, the diamond fall out.
Here’s a side view of mine… you can kind of see that the stone is set into the halo more.

My center stone is set low, and this is something we specifically looked for in a ring. I was afraid of banging the diamond up too much, and I just prefer the way it looks when it’s set lower. Krispi and I are ring twins 🙂

That stone is set very high, in my opinion. It’s as if the halo is too small or shallow and they weren’t able to set it lower. I would def. have the ring re-set if it were mine, but it’s still beautiful.

@kurapika168: Ooooh So pretty! I like how high yours sits! Mine is high too…

Your ring is stunning, congrats! I do agree that it’s set a little too high. You can see the gap very clearly. Sometimes I see rings where the stone is so high, it looks ridiculous. I don’t think that is the case with yours, but I do think it would look better lower. Here is mine. I was really specific as far as wanting the stone not to be set high.

Mine is high like yours, but I love it.
