- Wedding: September 2012
I just wanted some insight! My wonderful hubby of almost a year (september9) proposed in April 2011 with a round cut .47 ct diamond it has a slight yellow color i believe it is a j/K color set in a swirly solitare setting with matching band. We call it my starter ring. I really was not into solitares, round cuts, or matching sets. However, i loved him and was so happy he proposed. I have learned to love my little round diamond and have come to be used to the “warmth” of my diamond. He always said we would be able to upgrade my setting some day. Which i am so so excited to do!! The reason he picked out my ring is because it looks like my MIL’s ring 🙁 ugh. I also wanted a vintage halo type ring. So I am thinking about ordering a Stuller 121589 semi mount and just put my original stone in it. I really want to get a simple dainty rose gold diamond band. I thought about a really plain one or something a little vintage. Then I wanted to add my birth stone or something else to my original setting. Should I wait and upgrade the whole ring in like 5-10 years or just do the setting now? What are your thoughts? Here are some pictures of my current ring. I have never “loved” or oooohhh and awwwwed over my ring and never been in love with it, but I love my husband and know that he loves my current ring. I don’t know what to do!! help!!! If you have any 1/2 ct center stone halos please post or other upgrades! thanks!!
update… btw the ring i have is 10kt and i actually have a spot by a swirl that looks chipped and black almost rusted. My husband was so upset about it, the quality of the setting isn’t great. I had a prong get lose and almost lost my diamond!! ahh!!! I also hate how it snags EVERYTHING!
My current ring… sorry cell phone pics
The Stuller set I am wanting. It is about .34 tcw without the center stone.
This is the inspiration of the style i really want. The mismatched look with rose gold. (i obviously do not have a huge center stone like that and I am totally ok with it!! 🙂 thanks for any advice you can give. if you choose to be negative that’s cool because I don’t care! 🙂 thanks!
