I did it at the West Roxbury and the Jamaica Plain post offices and when I went to the post office at South Station, they wouldn't let me do it myself, but the woman put them aside and said she would do them. But my envelopes were square, so who knows if that had anything to do with it.
In general, everyone was really nice and I asked them if they got annoyed with thing like that and they said that they actually enjoyed it because it was something more interesting than what normally goes through the mail.
Awesome, perfect! I actually live on the W.Rox/Brookline border so it's great to know I could go to either the West Roxbury OR Brookline Village post office! Thanks so much ladies!
I asked teh Cambridge Central Square office yesterday to hand cancel and they said it was no problem and the awesome clerk started to cancel them in front of me.
We actually drove to a small town in RI called Harmony to mail out our STDs. The guy there let us do the hand-cancelling ourselves. I read about Harmony RI in a Martha Stewart magazine (I think!) so they might get a lot of brides in there. I don't know if we'll return there to mail out our invites - I might make my mom mail them out from her post office since they're the ones "hosting" the wedding.
They did mine in Brighton Center. But they told me to come in first thing when the post office opens so they have time to do it. I went at 8 am last Saturday!

After reading the post about hand canceling invitations, I'm wondering if anyone in Boston was able to do this and what post offices were more amenable to this? Thanks!
