- Wedding: November 2013
I know a lot of DJs and two of them offered to DJ our wedding as a present. They specialize in the music that me and my friends are partial too (Mostly gothic, industrial, new wave).
One of them I really trusted a lot because his DJ style fits perfectly with what we wanted to be played. He’s older so he is knowledgeable about more of the music and he’s done other friend’s weddings. He also has more equipment. The other is a bit younger and less experienced and tends to go more for the harder music. He’s the perfect backup but not really primary material.
Both are our friends and it was an ideal situation since they can do shifts so they can spend time DJing, drinking and dancing. Even though they offered to help we still wanted them to have fun especially since one is married to one of the bridesmaids (the older guy) and the other is dating my wedding planner(another friend).
Unfortunately the more experienced guy just called last night to say that his band is going on tour and now he can’t DJ let alone attend. He feels horrible since he offered and we are exactly a month out but this is his career. Their band tour changed at the last minute and there isn’t a way to make it work.
While on one hand I technically still have a DJ I didn’t want this burden on one friend. I also don’t necessarily trust him to pull the whole thing off without a hitch.
I can’t really afford to get a real DJ and they won’t have any of the music that anyone wants to hear.
I’m totally freaking out. What the hell do I do? I don’t want to ASK someone else to help since I think that would be really rude for me to ask a guest to DJ. These guys originally offered which was the only reason we went with it.
