Happy Hanukkah to all my fellow bees! Whether you are jewish, marying/married a jew, or just celebrate for the fun of it (Because who doesn't love an excuse to eat latkes, donuts, and other fried foods?) enjoy the week!

What are your plans to kick start the holiday?

We will be celebrating a little early with Mr. Hedgies family before they fly back to AZ and then to a Grand Menorah Lighting put on by a local Synagogue tonight. After that? Some much needed alone time with the hubs.

    Happy Hanukkah!

We're lighting the menorah at home this week. DH's family Hanukkah party is on the 28th and mine isn't until January 22 because no one is free until then!

I'm really excited to also celebrate Jewish Christmas on the 25th = Chinese Food and a Movie, yay!

Happy Hanukkah!  FI is Jewish and I'm Catholic, so we get the best of both worlds around this time of year!  We're bringing our menorah up to my family's Christmas celebration to incorporate both this year since the two overlap!

Happy Hanukah! we'll light the menorah each night, and make latkes one night too (yum!) but other than that it's pretty low-key. we already exchanged presents because I didn't hide his well, oops! My in-laws want us to come visit them for a Hanukah party this weekend, but DH doesn't want to make the ~4 hour drive, and I'm really busy with schoolwork still (I'm a grad student, have to finish one paper of my own papers first and then tackle a huge stack of my students' finals to grade!) so I don't think it's happening. Plus I'm excited about Jewish Xmas with dh--NYC is the only place I've lived where you actually have to worry about whether movies will be sold out on xmas!

I love Chanukah! We will light the candles tonight, and possibly make some latkes (from a mix...I'm all baked out from making Challah and pumpkin bars this weekend!) With all the excitement of the wedding, we decided we won't really be doing gifts this year. I think we'll keep it simple!

@CanAmBride:  And of course, I can't wait for the Chinese food/movie dates we have set up this weekend...that's always been my favorite part of the holiday season!

@abbie017: We are too! I am actually kinda excited about that. My family has celebrated Hanukkah with us before and even bought us our menorah but the idea of getting to celebrate Christmas AND Hanukkah on the same day? Exciting!

Chag Sameach everyone! I love it when Chanukah is late...we celebrate Chanukah and Xmas, so it's fun when Chanukah overlaps past Christmas! :-)

Happy Chanukah - thanks for starting this thread @Ms Hedgehog: ! I loooove Chanukah so much, and I always have - we have plans every night for seeing different friends and family to celebrate with - I can't wait!

My family had our Chanukah party this past weekend because having it on Christmas day was just too complicated - I've been enjoying cookies and latkes already, hopefully I won't OD before next Tuesday!

@hermitcrab: lol. We didn't get latkes last year because we just didn't have time to make them so I promised Mr. Hedgie we would have double the latkes this year. And tonight we are starting off our fried foods with latkes and donuts as starters and then possible a Jewish Deli in Dallas... then tomorrow night we are having fried artichoke hearts that are just to DIE for! So excited!
