Happy Monday, Hive Sisters!
I’m here to introduce myself… My name is Kelly and I reside in Central Florida with my totally awesome husband and darling 15 month old daughter, Madison.
I would like to pre-face this by saying that, while I am married, my husband and I have yet to have our wedding ceremony. In fact, we married under a huge tree at our local courthouse one month before our daughter was born in September of 2008. We did this for personal reasons but promised ourselves and our family that we’d have a formal celebration when money allowed. At the time, I was a busy bee saving my pennies to afford the cost of maternity leave as I was going to be without income for the entire 12-week duration.
DH and I went out to dinner the other night and had a heart-to-heart. We expressed our thoughts and wishes for our family’s future and at the top of our list was carrying out our promise by having the wedding we always dreamed of but could not afford. Honestly, we could have thrown a little something together but as believers that this is a one time event for us, we chose to hold off until we could do it right. Now that we’re in a better place and our daughter is 15 months old, let the planning begin!
I truly hope our story doesn’t offend anyone, as yes, we’re a married couple planning a wedding (or, a very formal vow renewal per say)…but with as hard as we work, we darn well deserve to have our shining moment, too.
I will be hanging around, particularly in the Fitness area for now as I have a personal weight-loss goal pre-wedding. Given the fact that we’re planning a 2011 celebration, we’re looking through magazines for ideas and hunting for a venue to secure.
I’m truly delighted to have found such a friendly, supportive community. Here’s to an awesome year+ of spending time around the Hive and planning the time of our lives.
ETA: I tried to share some visuals for you, but they seem to be malfunctioning. Oh well. I tried!

Welcome to weddingbee! The pictures were probably too big to upload, they have to be pretty small to load on here!

Welcome! Don’t feel weird at all about already being married… bees here are in every imaginable situation: traditional wedding, wedding without being legal, legal before the wedding, vow renewals…. the hive is for all 🙂
Just resize your pics down to 100kb or below and they should come right through!

Welcome! I second what corgi said about us bees being in every stage! Some of us are still waiting (me!) some of us are legally married, some of us have kids but are still planning weddings… we’re a hodge podge bunch, so welcome to the hive!

Thank you ALL for the wonderful welcome! Everyone’s sweet replies reiterated my feeling that this is the right wedding community for me. There are TONS out there but the Hive is the right place for me.
PS – I’m sure my photos were too large – they were from our photographer. Thanks for the tips! I’ll share some as I get further into posting.

@IA Snowflake: Thanks for the warm welcome! I appreciate an open minded community that supports everyone’s situation. This place is fab!
@msmonicka: Oh yes, I’m hooked already! I was cooking dinner last night with the laptop parked on the counter, browsing between flipping my tilapia filets. LOL! In fact, I remember seeing posts you were a part of. I think it was the most recent “share your dress” post. Haha!

Welcome from another “Married before the ceremony” bride. FYI- shrinkpictures.com is a good site to use to resize pictures before posting. I just used it today myself, if comes in really handy!

Welcome! I don’t think anyone will find anything wrong with a married couple planning a wedding. I think it’s very romantic that you and your husband want to follow through on your original plan of a bigger wedding in the future. I’m glad that you are in a better place now and are starting your planning! Your little girl can be your flower girl! 🙂

Thanks for the super sweet comment. Our little Madi girl is definitely going to be our flower girl. She’s beautiful and I know she’ll have a fun time in her dress. She’s only 15 months old now but at the time of our wedding, she’ll be a little over 2. I can’t wait!
Oh thank you, thank you for your nice comment! Everyone has been wonderfully kind and extremely supportive. I’ve made a few posts and chimed in on some, too. I’ve been around a LOT of boards before (due date community, parenting, babywearing, wedding, etc.) and this is byfar the most addicting because of the truly enjoyable crowd we’ve got here. And thanks for the sweet comment on Madi; she’s a cutie pie and just as sweet, too.
