- Wedding: July 2009
My now-husband and I agonized quite a bit over picking the “right” songs for our ceremony (the reception, too, but that’s for another post!). We had a very short secular ceremony outdoors so we had total freedom on our music choices. Because it was my husband’s second marriage, he wanted to forego all the “traditions” and do it “our way” – so we used contemporary music for our ceremony. I wasn’t sure how the guests would receive it but we got a ton of compliments on the non-traditional music.
Our processional, friends & fam walking down the aisle was “Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World” by Israel Kamakawiwole.
Bride walked down the aisle to “Lucky” by Colbie Calliat/Jason Mraz
Recessional was “Somewhere Only We Know” by Keane.
And our first dance was to the most under-appreciated U2 song of all time – “All I Want Is You”.
