I'm pretty sure it's a bruise... because it's almost all bone there, you can super feel/see any swelling... I have hit or gotten hit in the shins many a time (sort of clutzy/softballs) and there is always a bump.
@ troubled - I thought of that too maybe..
@ Lauren - It is on the muscle of my shin, about an inch 1/2 to the left of my shin bone. So you think it's just an internal bruise? That's why there is no discoloration just hardness? I hope so!
I agree with @Lauren, it is probably a bruise. My shins are covered with lumps and bumps! Of course I am not a physician, and if it eases your mind to see someone about it, you probably should (I understand thinking the worst - I work in a cancer hospital, and am a terrible hypochondriac sometimes!!).
Yes, I think it's an internal bruise... that's a long time to be sitting with your leg up against something... must be a good game! HAHAHA
@ allison - I am a major hypochondriac lately! I don't know what is wrong with me! Then I found this and I'm super freaked out. My husband keeps telling me not to touch it, just let it be for awhile, but of course I'm touching it every hour or so... :(
@ Lauren - it was an awesome game! I finished it Sunday night :P I spent my whole weekend on it pretty much. It's called Dire Grove, and it is the new Mystery Case Files game. (Hidden object find) Super fun & kinda spooky too lol.
I think it's just a bruise too. And stop touching it! You're making it worse :o)
I know if you get those around your wrists that they could be cool gnarly cysts - but it sounds like you just have a bruise. SHame though - they look like little gremlins when they come out!!! heehee
@Melissabegins: It looks like gremilins coming out of your wrists! OMG that's scary!
@ 2peas - I know! I can't help it!
@ Melissa - a gremlin would be better than some things IMO!! I'm pretty sure I could kill a gremlin!
I can't help but be interested in cysts after my husband had one removed from his mid-back - it was just this bump under the skin, no discoloration. They are gruesome and in a strange way, I'm sad that I've never gotten one (in a place I could cover up if it scarred, that is). Gross!?!?!
Could definitely be a cyst! I had one on my scalp (disgusting!) that was removed last year, and it sounds a lot like what you're describing.

I bought a computer game over the weekend (nerd, I know) and seriously played it for probably 5 hours Saturday night and another several hours on Sunday. We have a small computer desk and the tower (which is one of the smaller towers) sits on the bottom part of the desk right next to my legs. I usually sit with my feet up on the ledge, and the tower is right next to my left leg, so my leg sometimes bumps it or is pressed against it for extended periods of time. Sunday afternoon I noticed that my leg was sore (which I noticed after pressing that exact spot into the corner of the tower as I was playing my game), and so I ran my hand over my leg because I didn't see a bruise or a sore and found a tiny hard lump under the skin. There is no discoloration and it doesn't move or anything when I touch it.
It's really freaking me out, and it's only been there a couple of days so IMO it's too early to go to the Dr. but I'm freaked out. It seems like it might have gotten a tiny bit smaller though since Sunday, but then again that could just be wishful thinking on my part. I'm trying not to touch or press on it. I have ice on it right now and have been putting muscle (Emu) cream on it at bedtime.
I don't recall actually HITTING it on the computer tower BUT I was completely absorbed in the game and might not have noticed if I did. Also, it does line up EXACTLY with the corner of the computer tower, so is it possible that I could have just damaged it but not have gotten a bruise? Just a lump? Anyone had anything like this before? My mind is flitting to worse case scenario!!!
