hmm. if they like steampunk, maybe a hat or ring or gloves instead of the pocketwatch? etsy has a ton of options. or if they live near a larger city – maybe tickets to a convention of some sort? maker faire is a mecca for steampunk..

We’ll be in the same situation (R’s cousins) and one idea that I loved that FSIL & FBIL did was nice watches. The 16 year old really liked his.

I second an engraved pocket knife!  We did that for our groomsmen and an engraved Leatherman for our best man.  They were a hit!
