Yesterday was J’s birthday. And here I am, 12,157 miles away from him. (For the record, Google Maps recommend that I take a ferry to Japan, then Jet ski to Hawaii and then Kayak the rest of the way to America, across the Pacific Ocean. Screen shots attached…)
For his birthday/Thanksgiving, he went to some random fellow teacher’s house and played Trivial Pursuit. I called and left him a voicemail in the morning (he was doing laundry) and then we chatted on gchat for like 5 minutes when he got home before he went to bed. How depressing!!! Okay, pity party over, but seriously? It sucks that I don’t get to spend his birthday with him.
It also sucks that he got some hilarious gift from a friend “with a long story” that he didn’t want to tell me last night. I know he’ll tell me when we have our regularly scheduled phone date tomorrow, but still… bleh. I’m so ready to be there for the inside jokes and stories, not just hear about them later!

awww I’m sorry daydream 🙁 Being apart during special days is really hard!!! Keep holding on the the fact that you are GOING HOME SOON!!!!! You will get to see him and hear all of his stories in person and go on dates in person!!
And maybe…just maybe…you will get to jet ski and kayak your way back to China together!! Wouldn’t that be a fabulous experience to share together LOL I heart Google maps.

sigh… I was thinking I’d come home and find a lot of encouragement. 🙁
Thanks Bamm! I can always count on you 🙂 you’re not out shopping either, hehe.

When do you get to come home? Are you teaching in China?
Sucks that you don’t get to spend holidays and birthdays together. Hang in there and [hopefully] you’ll be home, in his arms, in no time! 🙂

It’s true…this Canadian girl has no experience with the Black Friday mobs! Except that every day in Seoul is kind of like that!!
Do you have any exciting plans for when you get to see SO next? Spend your sad time planning for what you’re going to get to do together in the very soon future!

I know what you mean about being there for the inside jokes instead of just hearing them retold when they’re not nearly as funny to him or you either.
I’m sorry you’re feeling the distance right now!
(but jet ski?!?! Seriously google maps. ya’lls crazy)

Wow, I should start googling things across the world to see how it tells me to get there, that’s wild! So sorry you didn’t get to spend your honey’s bday with him, but you’ll get to see him soon and make up for all the lost time…

I’m sorry that you are missing your FH’s birthday, that is a def bummer. *hugs* You will get to see him soon! By The Way, google maps told me to swim from New York to London once.

Aww Dirty Delete… I feel you! (hugs)
Last year there was a huge ice storm where my Fiance lives & all phone service was cut off for like a week. I couldn’t wish him a happy b-day. I had no idea if he had frozen or starved to death. I had to stay updated from the local online paper. It was the worst b-day ever for him too. He had no power for 2 weeks & it was impossible to drive… so he read books on his b-day and ate crackers and peanut butter.
So the following month when I visited him we had an UN-Birthday party (for 2). When he was at work I decorated the house w/ streamers, balloons, a pinata, pin the tail on the donkey… all the childhood classics. I made a big chocolate cake & a delicious meal for dinner and I surprised him when he got home from work.
I don’t know if you’re interested, but the UN-birthday was so much fun & he was beaming for the next few days lol. It was cute. Definitely consider it 🙂
PS. The google map directions made me fall off my chair! How hilarious… 🙂

*hugs* Love you, girlie! I’m so sorry you had to be away from him on his birthday… that really stinks! I was at work, otherwise I would have given you lots of love this morning!

Thanks bees 🙂 for your encouragement. I don’t usually get too down or pouty… but we’re coming up on just one more month of apart time before our (hopefully) glorious 7 weeks together this winter…. and I think the end part is going to be harder than the beginning part was. 🙂
To make matters worse (sigh) I overslept and missed an hour and a half of what was supposed to be our skype time this morning 🙁 so we only got to talk for an hour. And I’m going out of town for the week, leaving tonight, sooooo no chance to talk again. booo, right?
c’est la long distance vie.
