If I am completely honest with you, I was NOT happy the morning of my wedding day. We planned a 100% outdoor wedding and guess what? It was POURING rain on my wedding day. Photos are extremely important to me so I was extremely bummed at the though of everything being ruined. Luckily for us, the rain stopped about 20 minutes before our ceremony :D). The “bride getting ready” photos aren’t the best since I could not shake my crabby face. I got more and more upset as the rain ruined the possibility of fun photos wth my bridesmaids with beautiful light. Looking back, I wish I would have been more positive. The unhappiness definitely shows in those first few photos.
Fast forward to ceremony time and the EXCITEMENT finally set in!! Damn the rain! I was getting married :). We celebrated our special day with 60 of our closest friends and family. Our loved ones traveled from Hawaii, Isle of Mann, Texas, Illinois, Florida and California to a tiny town in Upper Peninsula Michigan where my hubby grew up. We had the wedding at my father-in-law’s lake house. Having our ceremony overlooking the lake and our tent glittering next to it at night was absolutely MAGICAL.
We had no wedding cake (you may have read that in one of my other posts complaining about my wedding planner), but we had fireworks! And lot and lots of tequila ;-). My husband and I had such a blast. I have been a die-hard Harry Potter fan since I was 11 years old. Harry saved me in many ways and those books hold a very special place in my heart. I am lucky to have a wonderful husband who was not against incorporating Harry Potter elements into our big day.
It really was one of the best days of my life. I leave you with some of my favorite photos from our wedding day. I HIGHLY recommend Karrn Frost Photography if you ever consider getting married in Michigan! She is the sweetest person and was a fantastic photographer.
