I have only been in one wedding until next week and then I am in 3.  I can honestly say I will wear my BM dress again from the wedding next week to my SIL's rehearsal dinner in October.  Its really pretty and the bride got us all matching shoes, necklace and earrings.  I think Im going to end up wearing the ENTIRE outfit for the RD, not even  just the dress.

Has anyone else actually worn a BM dress again?

Yes!  Well, at least one of the two.  Amazingly, I actually wore it to another wedding that same week and then to a work event.  And I'm planning to wear it to a different wedding this weekend (obviously no overlap among the three guest lists, except for my FI, and he doesn't care!).  The dress is from JCrew and it's really simple.  I didn't even love it that much, but it's just a good, basic dress for when I haven't figured out anything more exciting to wear!

i was the only MOH in my sister and my best friend's wedding so I was able to wear the same dress twice. But the other 4 BM dresses I own have only been worn for dress-up at my school's Q and U wedding!

This is why I am considering letting my bridesmaids choose whatever dress they want. But because I usually have huge issues with things looking symmetrical they are all telling me No! They think I'll hate it, but I love all the pics of weddings with unmatched dresses. UGH.

No I haven't, but I plan on making sure I pick up a BM dress that they can wear again.

I do plan on getting one tailored, and will definitely will wear it at the next wedding I attend.

I've only been a BM once and I have never worn the dress again.  It's a floor length chiffon dress in the most unflattering colour.  The only way I'll consider wearing it again is if I get it shortened (ha).

I'm letting my BMs choose the style they want so hopefully they'll be able to wear it again.

No, I haven't.  That's why I chose a department store dress for my girls.  I figured it cost less than most bridesmaid dresses, and is probably more rewearable.  I love it, but even if they don't. they didn't spend much on it.

@naangel55- That's a whole-lotta bridesmaidin' you have to do in such a short period of time!

The only time I have been a bridesmaid was when I was a "junior" bridesmaid in 1994 at my uncle's wedding. (I put junior in quotes because at 9, I was already taller than the bride. :p Hey, by the time i was 13 I was 6'0").

I never, ever wore it again. Hot pink, tea length, and just looked like hell. I took it to goodwill a few years ago. lol

I have worn one bridesmaid dress again -- to a friend's mock "80s prom" birthday party (the girls were instructed to wear the most tacky or stereotypical 80s prom dresses they could find, or their most unflattering bridesmaid dresses, lol).  The BM dresses for this particular wedding were pretty horrible: shiny, stiff seafoam green (not the nice shade) with rhinestones studded all over the top portion, which was also ruched.  I know this sounds mean, but the bride herself jokes about the BM dresses -- she basically planned her wedding in a week when she was home for Christmas from her residency, and she was more concerned about efficiency and cost than anything else (I think the dresses were about $20 from the fashion district in downtown LA)!  I've never minded wearing "questionable" BM dresses, but some can be pretty funny!  I would love to be able to wear a BM dress again in more normal way, though!

I'm planning on getting my BM's dresses from J. Crew, and I really, really want my BMs to be able to wear them again (hopefully not to an 80s prom-themed party, lol!).

Yes - I was in two weddings a week apart on opposite coasts. Both brides let me pick my own dress, and both approved of the same dress, so it was great! Since then, I've worn it to another wedding as a guest. It seems to be my default wardrobe for all weddings!

I never got pretty ones...I've been in weddings that were in the 90s (my cousins)! so NO!  My friend got a BM dress from J. Crew last yr and she wears it to other weddings too.  If I got a nice dress like that I would totally wear it again!

I have only been a BM once, for my sister, and she went the "Pick whatever dress you like, in this color" route. She actually bought mine for me because she saw it on sale at a store and thought it looked like my style. It was! Its a BCBG Max Azaria, really pretty halter dress and I wear it whenevr I have occasion to get dressed up!

    My FI loves it, too!

Well, I've never been a bridesmaid but I have managed to convince myself that my girls might wear their dresses again, they're from J Crew and I kno I would wear it to a wedding or some other semi-formal event if I got the dress...So we'll see, I hope so!

I have a cranberry colored floor length satin number from David's bridal sitting in my closet. I actually thought about wearing it to a black tie dinner I had to attend around Christmas time for work since it is plain but ended up buying something that was more comfortable. Oddly enough the two other female colleagues wore former BM dresses to the dinner. Since it cost less than $100 I didn't feel terrible buying it but would hate to have paid $250+ for a floor length gown and never wear it again. My BMs will be in short dresses.

I haven't, but I've only been in one wedding.  I really want my bm's to be able to wear their dresses again!  I think I may offer to dye it black for them, if they would like, after the wedding so that its more wearable.

yes.. different ones (i'm a BM multiple times over) several times actually. i shortened the floor length one and have worn it to nice celebratory dinners and other weddings. the other one was more casual and i've worn it on dates. a 3rd i actually rewore as MOH. the bride said i could wear whatever. i gave her an array of dresses i already had in my closet to pick from and that's the one she liked!

I've worn two of mine again - one for a costume and one for a Christmas party. They were great dresses, just too formal for my daily life!

I've been a bridesmaid only once. I got to wear the dress to an engagement party and then for x-mas. Best part was that the dress was only 100.00$

No, but I have worn the jewelry and shoes that matched the dresses and were gifted from the brides. Although maybe I could wear one of the dresses. Tea length, berry colored taffeta. But, is taffeta too bridesmaidy to wear to another wedding as a guest?

I've been in 3 and there is NO WAY IN HECK I would ever wear any of them again. Although, one of my bridesmaids Allison just got married 3 months ago and she is going to wear her sisters bridesmaid dress from her own wedding to a wedding next week... kinda interesting.

No. The two weddings I'm in next month are both typical bridesmaid dresses that will never be worn on my body again. I'm looking at ways to make them work though, and I might turn the Bill Levkoff one into a short gown and add some flair to it when I feel particularly creative. It's a pretty intense green though, we'll see.

Ok.  Only one time did I wear one and it was RE-USED for another wedding.  My sis and I were both bm's for one of our lifelong friends, and another friend of ours a year later got married very quickly (he was the groom) and wanted us in the wedding as the two bridesmaids (his fiancee was foreign) and since we didn't have time to order two new dresses, we wore the organza gowns she and I had that were matching!  Worked out fine as we were the only 2 bridesmaids!

This is why I'm having the LBD as the dress.  I would definitely wear a J Crew LBD any time!

I would love to say that I have.  But I haven't.  I have been a bridesmaid 4 times.  Had 2 nice dresses, 2 enh dresses.  But nope, I haven't worn them and don't see myself wearing them. I'm probably going to donate them to a local charity.

I've been a BM once, and I was planning on shortening the dress to tea length to possibly wear to another wedding or something, but I never did...so, I am thinking when prom season comes back around, I will donate it to charity.

I've been a BM 3 times.  Two of the dress were totally tragic--unflattering and in colors I would never choose myself.  Although the third dress wasn't great, I did sort of rewear it.  It was a red beaded top and skirt.  I wore the skirt with a black velvet tank to a formal holiday party a few years back.

No.  I've been in 17 weddings - never have I worn one of the dresses again.
I will say, however, that for dress up dresses for my daughter and her friends, they're FABULOUS.  :)

Keep that in mind in case you have young cousins or sisters.

As a halloween costume :)  Actually, that was a regular Ann Taylor dress that I would have worn again but never really had a place to.

I also rewore the bodice top to the 2 piece dress that my sister chose.  But I also spent almost the cost of the dress again on alterations, so it was completely remade and in the end way better constructed than originally (the smallest size the dress came in was 2 sizes larger than what I measured on the company's sizing chart...bridal clothing is a conspiracy).

In general I feel that most bridal wear (incl. AT celebrations) is pretty poorly constructed.  And for me, fit is everything!  So even if the dress has a cute cut or color, I usually feel like the dress itself hangs so poorly that I wouldn't rewear it.  In the end, I chose regular BM dresses but looked for something lower priced.  All the BM's look cute in pictures, and they didn't have to shell out a lot of money (besides, even though the color did flatter everyone, hard to see that mauve would be their first choice in formal wear).

I have been in two weddings. My sisters when I was 15, so that's out of the question and the other was about 2 years ago in for my cousin. I honestly couldnt even donate the dress to charity because right before we walked down the aisle we noticed the bead work on the dress had been dyed and the dye was starting to come off onto our skins before we started - it was horrible, especially since it was navy blue. the dresses were from group usa and freakin $160 - and yes, I would have worn it again, to a fancy dinner/charity event or a cruise captain night - however, the beading/sequins portion is now stripped of it's dye and silvery rather than blue - ridiculous.

I've worn the majority of my dresses again! I actually wore one of them 2 weeks ago! Most of the brides have been cool & let us pick our own digs.

The 2 dresses I got rid of came from a bridal salon! Ick. We were all relatively the same size in the other weddings & we actually got our dresses from the mall! Le Chateau has served me well (um, but in-store. Their online dresses look hideous!) The dresses ran between $130-$200 & I've squeezed every penny out of most of those dresses.

YES - for Halloween. I have been a fairy princess (added wings and a tiara), a beauty queen (added big hair/make-up and a sash) and a princess (fairy pricess w/o wings).

The Brides said that they selected dresses that I could use again - and they were right!

I've only been a BM once and although I've never worn the dress again I did lend it to my cousin to wear to one of her high school dances. I felt good that my $400 didn't go to waste. And it's still in my closet in case I get invited to a ball or something. The dress is SO formal, I can't really imagine wearing it to anything else.
