@hcc: I didn't have my wedding there, because it was too expensive, but I did get quotes from them that might be of interest to you. For 100 guests, they quoted 15K for July and 30K for November! I was shocked that it doubled in what most places consider off-season, but it's so hot there. I think September would still be pretty hot, so you might fall in between those 2 price ranges.
I think it does get busy- it's a very popular weekend getaway from hipsters in LA.

I'm looking for a venue and a date for my wedding in Palm Springs. My fiance and I stayed at the Ace hotel last week, and think it might be a nice place to get married. I was looking around on the internet for Brides' reviews on the place, but didn't find anything. I'm worried about two things: One is that they stack events. For the weekends we wanted to do the wedding they said that the Saturdays are taken, but that we could do our wedding on the Sunday. Would that feel like you're at someone else's wedding, if your wedding party is there for the weekend? Second is that we're worried that the weekends might be too packed at the pool? Is it busy there on the weekends in October? Also, would it be too hot to do a wedding in Palm Springs at the end of September?
