I have read lots of postings about Hawaii on these boards, so I'm not trying to reinvent the wheel here . . . I just have a quick, simple question:

If anyone has been to Kauai, what is your opinion on the best part of the island to stay on - north shore, south shore, east coast?

    Thanks for your help!

We will be going to Kauai for our Honeymoon too :)

While I have never been, my FI has. We've been to Hawaii before (Oahu & the Big Island) but never Kauai together. He says it AMAZING! The entire time we were on the Big Island, he kept mentioning how the beauty of this island doesn't even compare to the beauty of Kauai. Its suppossed to be really lush and green.

As for where to stay...Its really hard to decide. We are choosing the south side (Poipu) because it gets less rain than the north and has more "excursions" near by. We really want to go atv'ing and eat at lots of little resturants and Poipu has more "stuff" going on. Although, he wouldn't necessarily call it busy either!

The north side is suppossed to be the most beautiful part of the island, but also ALOT quieter. If you don't plan on doing much, I would go here.  My FI says this is where the old people stay... :)

Either way, your in Hawaii and your trip should be amazing! Good Luck!

I can't remember what shore it is - but I would recommend the Kauai Marriott, the one closer to the airport.  It is amazing!  The beach is part of a cove, so you don't have rough waves the way some beaches do.  And the island is small enough you can pretty much get anywhere with a short (less than an hour) drive.
