Hi, my fiance and I are going to have the civil ceremony at the courthouse in Easton Maryland.mjust the two of us since we will have the religious wedding with family and friends in one month in Europe. After picking up some paper work at the marriage license bureau in DC I am concerned the courthouse in Easton will also be full of convicts and just have an equally unromantic ambience, has anyone been there??? Do we need to find an officiant to do it somewhere else? Thanks sooo much!

kathi23: I’ve been to easton, though not to the courthouse. Have you been there before? It’s a small town, nothing like DC. Is the courthouse unromantic? Maybe. Is it full of convicts like DC? Probably not.
Its more quaint Mayberry type

If you are getting married at the courthouse in Easton, you actually have to go there several days ahead of time to get your marriage license. I don’t think a DC license will work in Easton.
That said, Easton is a sleepy little town and the courthouse is adorable (and most definitelt not filled with convicts). The staff there are very friendly and helpful, too. I would ask if they might even perform the service on the front lawn of the courthouse, as the courthouse itself would make a picture perfect background.
After the wedding, there’s a yummy Italian place literally right across the street from the courthouse, or you could duck inside the Tidewater Inn for a meal (also right across from the courthouse).

I just wanted everybody know that the court house in Easton, Maryland is lovely and we got married outside under an old tree. It really was wonderful!
