I think I will have Jasmine’s make my dress (once I decide on a color). They plan to use taffeta to make my dress instead of silk duponi like the original but I think I am ok with that. My other Ian Stuart dress is made of taffeta and I love it. It is very high quality. Since I don’t know the quality of Jasmine’s taffeta I turn to the bees. Has anyone bought a taffeta dress from them and what did you think?

@secondchances: I haven’t, but I’m pretty strongly considering Jasmine’s as well. I’m pretty sure on their website, you can order fabric swatches. They will send them to you.
Could you do that?

I love taffeta! I know a lot of brides hate it but I think it makes such a pretty dress! As for color, I am a big fan of ivory especially for taffeta but I may be biased since my satin dress is ivory.
I agree with Eagle, they will send you fabric swatches. I didn’t get swatches from DressilyMe of my fabric I just went with it because i am not really that picky on that particular detail but I recommend it if you have the time and the patience and have something very specific in mind.
Can’t wait to see your dress progress! I have seen Jasmine’s work in many threads and on their FB and it is so beautiful! I know they will do a wonderful job on your dress.

I agree, get swatches!
The dress I got comes in silk or taffeta. I tried it on in silk and loved it, but it was $1200 more in silk.
Luckily someone had ordered it in taffeta so I could see it that way, it looked like a completely different dress. Way more shiny and not as elegant looking.
I didn’t think I would care, but i did.
One thing you should do with the swatch is rub the “right” side against itself. The louder the noise the lower quality taffeta it is.
There are silk taffetas that are actually pretty nice…and then there are the completely manufactured ones that end up almost like track suits.

@secondchances: jasmine’s does great work based on what i saw online. I did read that they use synthetic fabrics like polyester and that soon they will offer silk and what not (but for a pretty price). If your ok with the synthetic fabrics go for it. It’s going to look beautiful.

I got married on June 2, 2012 and had the biggest mental break down of my life. I ordered the Vera Wang Gemma dress with upgrades to fabric and quality, ended up paying $1800. I was terribly disappointed in both.
This is aWARNING to all BRIDES!!!
Do NOT buy any products from Jasmine’s Bridal Shop (http://jasminesbridalshop.com/) unless you want to be severely disappointed. They outsource the dresses to factories in China so the company does not see the dresses in person, they are just the middle man out to make a big cut. There are absolutely NO guarantees and they can not back up any claims of quality.
Even if you have many pictures to show them, it will result to a terrible product for the following reasons. When upgrading to designer quality construction and fabric, it costs twice as much but there is actually NO difference to the lower grade. Construction and fabric is immediately visibly poor. For example, sewing of the bust line is uneven (one side pointed and higher then the other), inner lining bulges out and is visible on the outside, slit on the bottom of a dress is crooked, tulle fabric looks like plastic, and if there is any sequins on the dress it will not be secured (loose thread ends will be sticking out and sequins will all fall out).
Please avoid the hassle and wasting money on this company. I ended up buying another dress from a shop in Canada that was 10X better for half the price. Message me for more details.
