I did! After I stopped my whole 2-3 months of BC, I gained about 20 lbs. I lost about 7ish on this and did it about 3 weeks, but honestly it was too much sugar and additives. It was a great jump off point though, and I got accustomed to not consuming so much. Happy to report I am back in good habits again.
I would suggest substituting something else though... like an organic, low-cal cereal instead. Or greek yogurt with a touch of honey and some granola.
I didn't do the whole challenge, but I have switched to Special K cereal for breakfast and have lost some weight. I think the fact that it replaced 2 slices of peanut butter toast may have had something to do with it. My favs are the vanilla almond and chocolate delight.
I'm doing it and I love the vanilla almond (nom nom nom!!) i have been doing it since Monday I think and lost 3 lbs so far... but I'm a big cereal eater anyway and now my third meal is a friggin' lean cuisine because well have you seen my wedding dress lol!
I tried it, and I was OK for about the first 4 days, then I turned into a miserable grumpy person. The people I work with were like "No More Cereal for YOU!" lol.
It just wasn't filling enough for me... I couldn't stick with it.
Ha ha ha ha! I was going to tattle on cre and say that she's doing it! I'm doing WW.
I looked into it a while ago, but I realized the gist of it was just eating cereal instead of another meal. Of course you're going to lose weight eating that little! I think as some others have said, it's good to help get a handle on the quantity of food you eat, but I agree with mmmtacos to substitute something. I try to avoid cereals like that anyway (though Cinnamon Life is my weakness haha). I think that plain oatmeal would be a great option. Still low cal/low fat/small portion but far less processed and (in my opinion) much more filling than cereal.
Yeah, OF COURSE it was cooked up by Special K marketing, but I'm the kind of person that needs an absolute PLAN, not a vague explanation of foods that are ok and not. I know, I'm strange. Most people I know need wiggle room. I need a plan that's ruthless for me to stick too 100%, hahaha. I'll look into switching up the cereal for something by Kashi, maybe. Oatmeal is a great idea too, Amaryllis!
@okqueenbee: this is how I felt when I went on a cleansing raw food kick. I was one nutty girl. My bf at the time was just constantly looking at me like this >
because I was just one storm cloud ready to rain on anyone's parade.
Thanks for everyone chiming in. VERY informative. Thanks a bunch. I hope everyone is having a great start to the weekend!
I haven't tried it but I totally think it's my kind of diet. I am a cereal ADDICT! That's the kind of diet for me! :-)
I didn't do the whole thing, I was starving during the day and quit about 4 days in.
I don't like cereal because I don't really like drinking milk, but I have been substituting low calorie soups (like progresso or select harvest) for lunch every day for two weeks and it's working!! Most of the soups are only 60-80 calories per serving so even a whole can is under 200 calories. I also use www.thedailyplate.com to track my calories, not all the time but as much as I can. I've lost 3 pounds already, which is huge for me because I'm only 4 ft. 11 in. I have a lot more to go until my wedding in July, but I think this is something I can stick with, and I'd totally recommend it!
...does eating like 2 cups of the vanilla almond cereal as a snack count? I'm thinking probably not .
I love Special K cereal though! I'm curious how the Special K "drinks" taste?
I vote "no" for the Cereal Diet. Seriously, a bowl of that cereal + milk is about 200 calories. If you eat 200 calories for breakfast AND lunch and those measly "bars" for 90 calories as snacks, OF COURSE you will lose weight b/c you're eating practically nothing.
Personally, cereal like that doesn't have enough protein and other goodies to keep me full. 2 hours later, I want a snack. It just isn't enough. And cereal gets old fast....twice a day?! Ugh!
You could do rotisserie, low sodium turkey with fruit/veggies (all low cal) or chicken breast and steamed veggies with seasonings (no butter) and those would all be under 300 calorie lunches and probably sustain you better. Plus the fiber.
Oh and I think the cereal kinda sucks. It's so...bland? Cornflakey? I don't really dig it much, BUT I do really like the Kashi GoLean. It has 13 grams of protein and a bunch of fiber.
no, I know I could lose more just changing up my diet a bit. I've lost 4lbs in a week in a half, just by reducing my sugars and eating more protein and veggies.

I'm curious.. HAS anyone done it? Or has anyone tried and got sick of it and threw their cereal bowl out the window?
