So I just got egaged Friday (yay!) and I’m having a problem adjusting to always wearing a ring. I love jewelry but I rarely wear any because I always fiddle with it and can be fidgety. So is the problem with my fabulous new ering. Has anyone else had a problem adjusting? I mean going from rarely wearing a ring to always wearing one? Anyone find they’re constantly fiddling and adjusting the ring? Does it get better with time? Sorry this is so long, but I just need some advice. Thanks all!

I never had this problem with my left hand ring finger. But I wore a promise ring my mother gave me there for a long time before I got my engagement ring. But I do sometimes have to get use to a ring my husband bought me for my right hand when I decide to wear it. But I think you should just give it some time & you will get use to it. 🙂
CONGRATULATIONS btw & happy planning!
Any ring porn?

Congratulations!! Show us the ring! 😀
I had the same problem adjusting to wearing a ring after the proposal, and I’d walk around with my hands in a fist cuz I was so scared of losing it. But after a while, I totally got used to it and in fact, when I DON’T wear it now (when i’m at work), it feels weird and I miss it! I’d touch the spot where the ring is supposed to be thinking it’s there and then remembered I didn’t wear it!

@CrispyRN: Haha, I did the fist thing too!
I never wore rings before so yeah, it was a bit weird. I got used to it though, and now not wearing it feels weird.

I had a problem adjusting. The main problem was in summer when my fingers would swell from the humidity and it was really uncomfortable. Then I didn’t like wearing my ring to bed because I would poke myself in the eye LOL! I was also scared my stone would fall out in my sleep and I’d lose it forever. But I am finally used to it and wear it all the time practically. You’ll get used to it 🙂

@jewel_go: I’m with you! I never wear rings so it’s definitely different adjusting to wearing an engagement ring. I always fiddle with it because it moves around even though it’s my normal ring size. I heard it’s normal for women to have their fingers change depending on the weather. But don’t worry, you’ll get used to it 🙂

I sure did…I was also obsessed with having it sized. I think I had it sized lie 5 times..and I swear sometimes they would tell me they would size it and it felt exactly the same. I felt like they thought I was some nut and they were just trying to patronize me. lol. I finally got it to a size I was comfortable with and wasn’t worried about it falling off anymore. I did fidget and also stare at it constantly…I also had this thing about finding flaws in it…if I saw a scratch in the metal or anything my heart would race. It’s like getting a new car, you towel it down when it rains, you search it for dings…until you realize it’s just a car. =)

@fresitachulita That’s so funny! Yeah I asked my FI if I could get it a 1/4 size bigger bc I feel like its a little tight and maybe that’s why I fidget with it so much. But he made a good point that I’ve been steadily loosing weight so sizing it up wouldn’t make sense. Especially since I’ll have to size it down eventually.
I’m working on getting a good pic that I can upload. It’s a 1/4 carat princess cut solitaire thats kite set on a white gold band. Very classic and absolutely beautiful 🙂 I can’t stop staring at how much it sparkles! haha. I’ll post a pic as soon as possible 🙂

I used to wear a light thin promise ring on my left ring finger. When I got my engagement ring it took me a while to get used to the weight of the ring and the new rock. I’d never realized how heavy platinum is. I think after a month I’ve gotten used to it and now when I don’t wear it my finger feels naked.

I’ve had my ring for 10 months and I still screw with it! You do get used to it, but in my case, it was more a case of my getting used to fiddling with it. 🙂
