I am so tempted to do the pre-wedding chop as well!
My hair is so damaged at the ends due to my messing with a hair straightener when I didn't know what I was doing. It's so annoying and I can't wait until I can chop it all off!
i didn't, and i kind of regret it. i hate long hair on me and was only growing it for an updo, but decided to donate it since i was growing it anyway, and that's what kept me from chopping it. but i realized that i didn't need long hair for my wedding, that was just silly. my hair would be more me if it was shorter.
I am 50 days away from the wedding and have been growing it for about 8 months now so it's long for the wedding. My fiance likes me with long hair, but it's driving me crazy not to cut it! I've been tempted to cut it and get extensions put in a week or so before the wedding... This Summer heat and humidity is no good for my hair! You have time yet for it to grow out, and yep a good hair stylist will find a good look for you.
I want to SO bad. i het my hair long, but I want an updo. I have been growing it for a year now and put it in a ponytail everyday because it is so hot and heavy. Day after the wedding I am chopping it all off to my chin.
Like artbee, I'm growing mine out solely for the reason of donating it. Right now, I live in ponytails and hair clips. I like long hair OK on me, but at this point, as soon as I can cut 8 inches off without looking like a hair club for men member, I'm chopping it off! My wedding date is 12-11, so I don't know what that will leave me for the wedding. I'm not afraid of artificial length enhancement (does that sound like an Extenze commercial?), and there are a lot of cute short hair wedding styles, so I'll wing it!
I decided not to grow mine out for the wedding. It is quite thin and fine, and just starts looking straggly if it gets at all long. Dealing with that for a year or more, in order to have an updo one day, didn't seem like a worthwhile trade-off.
uggh I came so close to cutting it all off! The only reason I didn't is because I'm going to do an extreme cut of atleast 14 inches to donate to locs of love and then my hair will be the shortest it's ever been. I don't want to have super short hair at the wedding, but I can't wait until the day after!
BTW: where in RI are you getting married!?
I cut my hair at Christmas time. I love long hair, but typically my hair is very thick and grows very slowly. Getting to the point of 5-6 inches below my shoulders (the point at which I start to like it and can manage it) is so frustrating. I was growing it out for the wedding, and was maybe 2 inches past my shoulder. I was su frustrated with it. I cut it to a long inverted bob style and then had 5 more months of length before the wedding. I should have just cut it. It would have been more me and a lot less frustrating.
We were married on Saturday and I chopped my hair off on Monday. I've kept it chin length since the wedding and love it.
I did!!
I couldn't stand the length anymore! My dress is more modern, so I actually think a shorter, updated hair style looks better!
@PaperCrane: We're getting married by the Beavertail Lighthouse in Jamestown

So last Friday I got somewhere from 5-7 inches cut off of my hair (i told her 5, it looks like more to me). I just got tired of dealing with long hair in the heat and with the new wedding in a faraway, if I don't like any hair/makeup places it's easier for me to do my own hair if it's shorter. I wonder how it'll work with the hairstyle I want but it'll grow some and a good hair stylist can probably figure it out if it's a bit past my shoulders. Anyone else done this? Maybe I'll post before and after pictures later.
