Hi 2014 brides to be,
After looking around the site I was just wondering if any of you have started any DIY projects yet? I know it is pretty early for us but I also know patience is a virtue and time can go really fast.
Some things I am working on:
- Fabric/satin rose boquets
- Considering strassing some shoes
- Pomander balls for the reception and ceremony
So share some of the things you are considering.

@Clutterqueen: I’m Sept 2014, but I’ve started collecting vases and jars for centerpieces. I don’t have enough of a vision yet to really start on anything concete.

I don’t know if I’m going to be doing many DIY projects. The only thing that I want to get done (eventually) is picture frames for my photobooth. I’m buying the picture frames, but then putting in a (nice) piece of paper saying that we are making a donation to MS and telling them that they can go to the photobooth.

I have actually started a couple of things. I have collected some different sizes vases and bowls for my candy buffet, I have been purchasing pieces to my bridesmaid’s survial kits, and drawing out my centerpieces. I am trying to do as many DIY projects as possible!

I have been playing around with different ideas of centerpieces because I am not quite sure what I like yet, but that’s really the only DIY thing I have planned so far.

I have all the jars and ribbon I need for my centerpieces, just need to find of something as a filler and to buy the rest of my flameless candles. I will be strassing my shoes Im just waiting for everything to come in so I can start and MOH’s mom will be making the bridal party bouquets, boutineers, and my flowers for my centerpieces. and Im still thinkg about other projects.

I’m crazy and have done almost everything. Bought my dress, booked the venue, church, have my DJ, videographer, photographer, & florist. I also picked out my bridesmaid dresses but we are waiting to order it because 2 of my girls are on a diet and we still have time.

@FoxyBride14: I have about the same amount done as you. Deposits on DJ, tent (and everything rental), photographer, dress bought and at my parents, one bridesmaid has her dress the others will be looking in the fall because of the cranberry colour being hard to track down. Also done about half the flowers for my fabric flower bouquets, half my boutonnieres are also made. Getting there! 🙂 It is nice to be ahead of the game less stress once the year mark rolls around haha.
@Clutterqueen: Do you have any photos of your flowers so far? I am also doing fabric flowers, sooo much work though!

@REchick: definitely. I just wish there was more to do right now. But it seems there won’t be until there is a ton of stuff to do a couple of months before the wedding

I am sort of jealous of all the people doing cake tastings and food tastings haha. We aren’t having a cake and I don’t really think food tasting is too popular in the area we are having the wedding haha. Plus it sounds like we might be having some friends cater the wedding for us, they cook well hahah but no fancy tasting.
I sort of want to lie and go cake tasting, just pretend we will be getting one :p.
Anyone do any honeymoon planning yet or have plans of leaving right after the wedding? Fiance and I are thinking about a month long honeymoon, just travel around Europe (I use to do a bunch of backpacking), then skip over to somewhere romantic like Bali or the Maldives for a few days then onto another country. We aren’t too sure but it most likely won’t happen until the fall or winter of 2014.
@BeeRod527: What does a Tumblr page do? I have heard of it but know nothing about it.

@REchick: It’s a blog page. Think Pinterest but with more stuff to type.

Wow you guys have really inspired me to start doing something! All we’ve done so far is booked the venue. Oh and I’ve created a pinterest board!
And I guess I better start planning soon. Organizing a Vancouver wedding all the way from Hong Kong isn’t going to be easy… 🙁
