    :)

    I had to ask...

I am watching a show on abductions.  These "scientists" are talking as if it is a pretty real and common occurance.  So, I am wondering...if you have been abducted, what did they do to you???

If not, do you think there is life on other planets?  What do you think aliens are like?  I think I believe they exist...but not sure what they are.  Maybe just little bugs or something.

HAHAHA. My dad firmly believes--no joke--that "the fourth kind" was a real movie and the aliens are really demons. I'm not even pulling your leg--he said that the "language" they speak is some old langauge from the bible and the reason everything we hear is garbled is because their technology is light years ahead of ours.

I can't fathom that we are the ONLY source of life out there. Somewhere, i imagine there is another form of life. The universe is huge--and I just don't believe that Earth is the only life-sustaining planet.

haha, no I don't think I have been abducted by aliens, but surely Earth doesn't contain the only lifeforms in the entire universe.

    I'm giggling.

No I have not been abducted by aliens.  And while I loved the TV show Roswell, I do not think there is life on other planets.

@ejs4y8: I agree that there must be intelligent life out there. I just don't believe that aliens visit us to abduct some and not others?? lol Undecided

Lol....I don't believe in abductions but it is hard to imagine we are the only life in the universe.

I just recently watched The Fourth Kind and I told my FI that if I EVER wake up and it is 3:33, he is getting woken up, immediately. That movie was CREEPY!

The Fourth Kind was an awesome movie! I don't know if it was real or not, but the footage was really fascinating.

Have I ever been abducted? No, not to my knowledge. But maybe they wiped my memory! Who knows? ;)

I also agree with some PP. If there's life here, there's got to be something somewhere else at some point (now, before, after). Even just a tiny microbe or germ. I mean it's gotta be.

There's that quote from Contact: "I'll tell you one thing about the universe, though. The universe is a pretty big place. It's bigger than anything anyone has ever dreamed of before. So if it's just us... seems like an awful waste of space. Right?"

hahaha, when I was a kid, I was OBSESSED with aliens.  My room was covered in anything outerspace, and especially aliens.  I had a t-shirt that said "abductee" on the back haha what a dork.  But no, sadly, never been abducted.

FI and I were just talking about this. In recent months NASA has released a few statements that are more progressive than usual about life on other planets. Apparently a lab study was done that shows that life can exisit on other elements that we previously believed we inhabitable. An organism was manipulated to thrive in an arsenic based environment rather than a phosphorus one (sorry for the laymen's description of this, someone please eleborate if you have the correct language). This discovery just added to the growing list of planet that we believe could harbour life. That being said their definition of "life" is widely vaster than what the sci-fi thrillers show aliens to be.

Also, some more research has shown that there are multitudes of many more stars and constellations than we previously had record of. Some NASA scientists have made official statements saying that the probabilty of life on another planet is greater than the probablity of us being alone.

I think we'd be truely egocentric to believe that we're the only planet in the universe to hold life. Life on other planets might be vastly different than on Earth, but I 100% believe that it is possible.

Nope...never have been abducted. If I ever was, I would ask so many questions they would bring me back with the quickness. Laughing

I do think that there are other life forms out there somewhere though. We can't be the only ones in the whole entire universe. I read a book by Dean Koontz called Relentless that scared the crap out of me. It was in line with what ejs's dad had to say. Creepy stuff.

My husband is "afraid" of aliens.  He has this weird thing with a flashing light of a certain color.  He always watches the history channel or discovery.  One day he was watching hours of stuff about aliens.  Since he's "afraid" of them I asked why he was watching them.  "So I can be prepared when they come."  !!!  LOL.

    Gosh I needed this thread!!

My niece claims to have been planted in a pod in our basement, if that counts.  Like from cocoon. She started this when she was like six and stuck with it mostly cause it terrifies her other cousins.

But yeah i belive in all that stuff, on top of ghosts and that stuff too... gosh no wonder i do NOT like to live alone lol

No - I've never been abducted by aliens but IMO, there is no way that Earth is the only place in the whole universe that harbors life.

Uhm no. I have never experienced an alien probe to the best of my knowledge... LOL! However, I agree with the PPs that there must be something/someone else out there. That's a whole lotta space for just little old humans.

I haven't seen the Fourth Kind (I'll be looking it up now though!) but I will admit that when I saw the remake of War of the Worlds in the theatre, I was literally shaking I was so scared. I have no idea why. Weird! LOL!

@bakerella: If War of the Worlds scared you, The Fourth Kind will make you pee your pants!!

Does anyone know if that movie is based on a true story? Someone got into an argument with me that because they have that speel in the beginning about how it's real footage than it would be fraud for them to show otherwise. Some of those scenes just seem so unreal though! I would have a heart attack if those kind of things were happening in my life!
