Welcome to the Hive!  I actually love that idea!  I think that it is a good way of including those who will not be able to be there to support you, but you still get to read the sweet sentiments of those who care about you as a couple.

@Shoregirl1:  I love it! Maybe you could have your best friend send them out as her gift from herself to you instead of you sending them out if that bothers you because you’re not really inviting them. But if it doesn’t bother you then go for it!

Perfect! Love the idea even for me because I have a massive family that unfortunately I do not have the budget to invite all the extended members, we were planning on sending out wedding announcements to those members saying we had an intimate ceremony on xyz date.

I think if you said “write us a little note” so that it looked like just that and not an envelope for a check (that would be my worry) then that sounds cute!
