Daisylovex3:  Maybe you just skipped a month. It’s normal to from time to time. I’m a 31 day cycle, and there’s been times I have skipped a month then got AF usual time the following month, I swore I was preggo, not the case.

I would take another test like the doctor said then if it’s still BFN wait until next month, if you go a couple months with no AF, then see a doctor again. Good luck!

Daisylovex3:  I missed my period- wasn’t pregnant, and then ended up getting it the next month, a little off than when I should have gotten it.  None the less, it was a “skipped” period.

I did end up going to the DR- but for other reasons.  They of course wanted to figure why I missed my period since I wasn’t pregnant.  After bloodwork and ultrasound- I was diagnosed with PCOS.  Thing is, I had never missed a period before, and then I didn’t miss one again- until I became pregnant.

In theory, I could have missed my period due to stress, but to me, that just doesn’t make sense.  I used to live a very stressful life a few years back, and still had a period like clock work.

It is not that strange if you miss one period- although it sure feels like it when it’s never happened.  It could just be because, maybe you have PCOS (super common apparently!) – see if you get it back. Oh- and something that commonly occurs- if a woman has PCOS- birth control doesn’t “cure” it, but it masks symptoms.  They often prescribe BC for women with PCOS to help manange it.

I’m not saying you have it- I’m just saying that you coming off BC, and missing a period…it could be PCOS.

Daisylovex3:  That happened to me. And then 9 months later a baby popped out 🙂 I didn’t get that positive until I was twenty days late though. We weren’t trying and yes I know very lucky.

Daisylovex3:  A couple of periods ago, I had pregnancy-type symptoms including not a missed but a lot lighter than usual period. I thought I was pregnant but kept getting BFNs. My last two periods have been back to normal.

I’ve had a couple of cycles which were much longer than my usual cycle length, I think that’s normal.

I’m a bit skeptical about the idea of a “silent period” though – I think it’s most likely that you just didn’t ovulate when you normally would have done (unless I’ve misunderstood and this is actually what your doctor means by a silent period).

If you really want to know what’s going on with your cycles, I definitely recommend temping!

Daisylovex3:  I was regular after going off BC for a few months then suddenly didn’t get AF for 3 months (BFN). Turns out I have PCOS and the BC set my hormones out of whack 🙁

Daisylovex3:  Really? I’m surprised as I thought it was really rare to ovulate but not bleed. But..I’m not a doctor or nurse, so I could be talking nonsense!

Fingers crossed you do end up getting your BFP this cycle!

Daisylovex3:  I ahd absolutely no reason to believe I had PCOS either– I don’t have a lot of the “classic” symptoms.  I don’t have facial hair or extra hair growth anywhere, I don’t have a lot of acne (just get a zit here and there that time of the month)- my bloodowork showed I was on the trend- is basically what the DR said.  And the ultrasound showed I had many cysts on my ovaries.

I was diagnosed in November of last year.  I got pregnant in April- and we weren’t even officially trying yet.  So while I totally respect my DR I was seeing (and am seeing his wife for this pregnancy)– he thought we might need help getting pregnant.  We were actually shocked I got pregnant because even though we were cool IF it did happen- we really didn’t think it would, so he was pulling out and we were using no other method of birth control.  Which means, it seems it was quite easy for me to get pregnant!
