Its not generally thought of as a good idea.
People think they are buying you things like excursions, etc and the agency cuts you a check and takes a percentage of what they charged your gift giver. Its basically like asking for money, which is rude. People know money is always a good gift.
Also, a lot of people like giving physical gifts. Without a registry, you could end up with a ceramic rooster from dear Aunt Tilly.
Instead, create a small registry with upgrade items and other things for the house (not necessarily traditional items, more like blankets, small throw rugs, vases, serving platters, china) and spread the word that you are saving for a honeymoon. People will get the hint.
I'm thinking abot doing this but havent worked out all the kinks yet

Ditto THIS^^
A lot of people will gladly give cash or gift cards as gifts... but word of mouth is the way to go on this one!
Thanks for everyone's opinions! We had some ppl (family, clients coming to wedding, friends) suggest it for us but I wasnt do sure!!! Thanks alot!!
From what I've heard, registering with a travel agency isn't the best option because it's not very flexible (like if you get sick and have to push your honeymoon back or something). We're doing a registry through Honeymoon Pixie. We intend to use the money we get for exactly what the guests buy (ie. if someone gets the horseback ride on the beach excursion but no one buys the hiking tour, we'll go on the horseback ride and maybe pay for the hiking tour with our own money or maybe not go at all!). Our guests have really seemed to love the idea so far!
I'm also doing a small Crate and Barrel registry and an Amazon Universal registry that I'm mostly using for unique housewares from Etsy. I think it's a good blend for us!

My Fiance and I have lived together for 2.5 yrs and had our own places (things) from before as well. A newer suggestion is registering at a travel agency. Has anyone? How does it work?
We love to travel and b/c of the wedding expense we dont know if we will have a honeymoon right away.
Thoughts?
