I'm curious to hear about this as well! We just booked a trip to the Sandals Royal Bahamian, but I've never been to a Sandals before. Hopefully it's lovely!
I'm getting a bit confused too.. I was very excited about the prospefct of a sandals vacation... a friend of mine went and he sent me pics. He had a GREAT time and highly recommended it but I found the pics he sent me HIGHLY underwhelming... He went to Sandals Whitehouse which wasn't one I was looking at.. but the resort, to me, looked like a resort you could just find in Florida.. very cement, tiny beachfront..
I want to be emmersed in paradise. Not cement.
Have you read any reviews on tripadvisor.com? I found reviews to be super helpful when deciding where to go!
I use tripadvisor as well but my TA recently told me to not let those reports make or break your decision... she actually spoke to a man who did reports for 10 years on review sites, etc and said he never visited one place he reported on. People get paid to do this and competition can post positive.. or negative.. reports on their hotel/resort and others....
I went to Sandals St. Lucia Regency. I felt like a queen the entire time. It was like a dream. I love it and I can't wait to go back. I wish I could go every year. The room was beautiful, the food was good, the ocean was beautiful, the people were nice. The only thing that was bad was the driving. lol
@2PeasinaPod: We went on our honeymoon to Sandals Royal Bahamian!!! You are just going to love the private island. It was the best!!!!!
We loved the Sandals experience. Neither one of us had been to an all-inclusive before, so we didn't know what to expect. I was really afraid I'd get bored eating at the same resort and hanging out there all day, but our experience was so the opposite! We had bad weather the first part of our trip and I will say we still managed to have a great time!
I've been to the the St. Lucia Halycon resort and loved it! It's the smallest of the Sandals resort there but it had a more intimate vibe, not hotelish at all. I highly recommend it, they were top notched. When we arrived they had a probelm with our reservation, but was able to resolve it and they gave us a complimentary couples massage on the gazebo at sunset!
We also stayed at the Sandals Regency in St. Lucia and stayed in the Romeo and Juliet suite on the bluff. It was beautiful. There are definitly pros and cons to Sandals but for us it worked out well
Pros: You don't have to worry about anything. The only money you spend is on excurions or gifts. Very relaxing. Great location.
Cons: You don't really feel immersed in culture since you are surrounded by a bunch of white Americans on their honeymoon. Although the food was very good, I was bored with it by the end of the trip. It all seemed to taste the same to me no matter what cuisine we were eating.
I loved Sandals for our honeymoon. It was exactly what we wanted. With that said, I dont' know if I would want to do another Sandals trip because by the end I felt like I had seen it all. We were a couple that paid for their own wedding and honeymoon so we had to be careful of our budget. This worked out well for us knowing that at the end of the trip we didn't have a big bill waiting for us and we were able to book early and slowly pay off the balance.
We took one exursion outside of Sandals "Joe Knows Tour". It was amazing. Highly recommend it. We went snorkeling, visited healing mud baths, washed off in diamond waterfall and had some local cusine for lunch. AMAZING! Best part of the trip.
@CindyRelly: Me neither!
@mrstj2b: Thanks! I do tend to take those sites with a grain of salt because they can be taken over by whoever wants the rewiews.
@crash806: mmm massages are awesome!!!
@miss.skinner: that's exactly what we want to do. Beautiful pictures!!
@JsDragonfly: Yay! I'm so glad you enjoyed it! We're really excited (it's a vacation rather than our honeymoon), and we even have another couple to enjoy it with!
@2PeasinaPod: You will definitely have a great time! Make sure to check out the "hidden" pools in the Royal Villa area. Our room was in the villas and while we loved the seclusion of the pools back there, we were shocked that the rest of the resort hadn't figured out they were back there. One day, we had one of the larger pools to ourselves for about 3 hours!
I posted this review a couple months ago. We went there for our belated honeymoon in April.

I stayed at the Sandals Grande in St. Lucia. We visited the other two Sandals while we were there for dinner and I thought Grande was definitely the best one! I have to say the beach was just OK there - I've seen nicer water and sand in Florida. Country was absolutely beautiful overall though.
Getting married at Sandals Whitehouse next week! I got reccommendations from many friends that have been to Sandals and almost ALL of them said good things about Whitehouse. My good friend who has been to about 10 Sandals resorts said Whitehouse was by far her favorite!
I'm staying at Sandals Grande St. Lucian in June. I've heard good things and think the island looks beautiful. Plus, I love how you can stay at one resort and visit the other two on the island for free!
Im going to sandals st lucia grande and la toc! Sounds like its going to be a blast!!
I've been to st. lucia but not sandals. we rented a house.
maybe it was just me, but I thought they did not have the nicest beaches. I rented a house in playa del carmen mexico once, and the beach there was a million times better. st lucia's beaches were ok, but the water wasn't clear, the sand was more coarse and full of broken shells and rocks. the public beaches were a little trashy (but the sandals version keeps theirs cleaned up I'm sure).
also, outside of our house and the beach, there wasn't much to do. Castries (the capitol city) was really small with nothing going on, and it was kind of run down and sad. so maybe that's why the resort is so much cheaper there compared to other countries. the one activity that I did do that was fun was ziplining.
but if you are not planning on leaving the resort, then go for it. the people there are very nice, and the weather is good. you will have a very pretty view, too.

How was your experience? I want to go ahead and book because the rates are low but I don't want to get le screwed if you know what I mean. They make it sound fabulous but companies don't always cooperate as advertised so I want to hear your experiences! Thank you!
