We are thinking of nixing our NYC honeymoon idea because it will be too expensive. Our budget is about 3K. I looked at 2 options yesterday:

Las Vegas - FI has always wanted to go, but would it be an appropriate honeymoon spot? I guess there is a lot to do there, and it's warm, so that's a plus... I just don't know if it screams romance to me though... Although either did NYC... So... I'm confused. Lol. How expensive would this be (not considering flights and hotel)?

Bermuda - This would be perfect to me. We can go for $2500 all inclusive and stay in a 4-5 star resort. Heaven. I have never been on a beach vacation. My FI thinks it would be boring and not adventurous.

Has anyone been to Vegas on their honeymoon?

Has anyone been to Bermuda in general and what is there to do there?

I live in NYC and think it's one of the most romantic places we've experienced! There are so many fabulous romantic restaurants, jazz clubs, the city lights, dinner cruises, etc.

Been to Vegas, not really a honeymoon atmosphere but that's just my opinion. You'll be dealing with drunk people and loud places the whole time!

Bermuda sounds fabulous, we're still trying to find somewhere to go as our budget is only about 2500, I should check it out! We love beach vacations though, you grab your book, chairs and umbrella and can just sit on the beach and listen to the waves crash on shore. Walks on the beach at sunset, so romantic!

I went to Bermuda several years ago and thought it was GORGEOUS. All-inclusive is probably the way to go because it is not a cheap island. I don't have much advice about where to go because we cruised there from NYC (which was fantastic! loved that we drove about 20min to the peir, got on the boat, and vacation started- no flying or driving 18 hours!). Definitely go to Horseshoe Bay though and don't just stay on the main beach. Go for a walk... its is amaaazing... its like hidden gem after hidden gem. Loved it.

just got this deal from travelzoo.  http://www.travelzoo.com/cruises/bahamas/830002/?utm_source=top20_us&utm_medium=email_top20   if you are interested, it might be worth keeping an eye on Bermuda cruises. if the price is right you could always do 2 nights in NYC then cruise to Bermuda.. just don't know what kind of price that would be along with your flights!! just a thought.

I think Vegas would be a lot of fun too but if you really want to go all out for your honeymoon (dinner, a show or 2 and such) I don't see it being much cheaper than NY imo.

I went to Bermuda with my family years ago. To this day, that was my favorite trip of all time. It's absolutely BEAUTIFUL. I also think all-inclusive would be a good idea because things get pricey.

I've been to Bermuda twice and it is beautiful.  I went on  cruises so I don't know too much about the hotels, but we did spend time at Horseshoe Beach and a few others.I thought is was the perfect place for a honeymoon.

And let me tell you riding those mopeds is about as exciting as you can get.

Seriously if you go be careful if you do rent mopeds! lol

And yes it is pricey so I'd def do the all inclusive.

be careful on the mopeds! when we were there we were waiting for a bus from the beach and saw a couple fly out of the parking lot on their mopeds and the girl got hit by a car. my dad had to go over and help her. i think she ended up fine, but had to be brought to the hospital and was all bloody. A local says he sees it all the time. They drive on the left side there so it throws tourists who arent used to it off.

I agree with Beach Fanatic! Bermuda is beautiful, but expensive.

A cruise may be a good option as well. There are several fantastic cruises to Bermuda.

I love Las Vegas! It's a lot of fun. And dependent upon where you stay can also be very romantic.

I have to admit, if you're looking to get the most out of a trip to Bermuda, take the NCL cruise from Boston. Dining on the island is overpriced and the food is very sub-par. Lodging is also expensive, and not particularly worth the dollar (sole exception: The Reefs. Best hotel on the island, and worth the money. Still, food is not great).

Go shopping in Hamilton and at the Dockyard. For fine jewelry, E.R. Aubrey (in Hamilton) is the best -- their pearls, coral, and sterling silver are lovely. Visit the aquarium for a fun few hours of tropical fish, and hang out around St. George in the afternoon and evening for street fairs and crafts.

For transportation, all you need is a length-of-stay bus pass and the occasional trip on the ferry from Hamilton to the Dock. I'd advise against the mopeds -- don't forget, they drive on the "other" side of the road, and navigating gets tricky!

The island is lovely, beaches are almost perfect, and the Bermudians are polite and friendly.

One more tip: stay away from cutoffs, tees, and flip-flops if you can; Bermuda has a dressy-casual vibe, and you'll be treated better and feel more comfortable in a sundress or capris and pretty top (or him in, ahem, Bermuda shorts and a polo).

Feel free to PM me if you want more detailed information about the island or the cruise itself!

Love, Love, LOVE Bermuda!  It's just so gorgeous and safe.  It's a small island so you can see the whole thing.  Shopping in Hamilton, the snorkel park at the Royal Navy dockyard, so many beautiful beaches.  If I wasn't just there in November I'd go on my honeymoon!
    Cool

We will be going to Vegas for a portion of our honeymoon, mostly for sentimental reasons (we lived there one year together and FI lived there for 5 total).  What is romantic there depends on the person.  For us anything related to our time living there will be special.  Here are two good links of some of the various things that you can do:

    http://lasvegasusa.org/

     http://www.tripadvisor.com/Tourism-g45963-Las_Vegas_Nevada-Vacations.html

Also look into the various hotels and spas.  Many are deeply discounted right now.  There are horse back riding tours, hot air balloon rides, Helicopter tours,  gondola rides, it's a 3-4 hour drive from the Grand Canyon, and only a half hour to the Hoover Dam.  There are lots of tours to choose from.  There is also beautiful Lake Las Vegas and red rock canyon.

The most expensive things to do in Vegas are the big shows, like Cirque du Soleil or any big name singing headliners that come to town.  For those I would go to half price tickets and see what you can get cheaper.

Bermuda all the way!  Vegas is great, and can be inexpensive, but I always end up spending WAY TOO MUCH MONEY there.  Bermuda, Bermuda, Bermuda :-)

I've never been to either but I've had feedback on both. EVERYONE I know who has been to Vegas says it's not some place to be for more than a long weekend. Not enough to do outside of the strip and it gets expensive. Also, FI has been twice and has no desire to go back so I'm pretty meh about it.

As far as Bermuda, my parents honeymooned there almost 30 years ago and they still talk about it (they also experienced some hurricane rains while there in September). My cousin and his wife also honeymooned in Bermuda in early June 4 years ago. They took a cruise ship from Boston and absolutely loved it. The cruise was a week long and allowed them to see several different parts of the island and beaches. Their photos were beautiful and based on their experience I would pick Bermuda if I were you. Also, my aunt took the same cruise some years ago and enjoyed it, especially because my uncle hates to fly.

Las Vegas for us!  We got a great rate at the Mirage.  I'm planning on spending all day by the pool and the fiance is planning on spending all day at the casino.  Maybe we'll meet up at night for dinner!  Ha!

    Vegas!  Vegas!  Vegas!

We are going to Vegas for our honeymoon, but only because I couldn't take a vacation anywhere else.  I am 25 and we have gone 5 times since my 21st birthday (my fiance took me there the day before so that I actually turned 21 in Vegas).  I just love it there so much, there is so much to do and see.  The very first time you go there is like magic, it's complete sensory overload, too much to see and experience that can't be done in one trip.  Depending on how much you gamble it can be very inexpensive.

    Romantic Hotels

Bellagio- from $129/night, Venetian- from $139/night, Caesar's Palace- from $99/night, Paris- from $65/night, Mandalay Bay- from $69/night.

    Everyday less expensive hotels

Luxor- from $38/night, Excalibur- from $24/night, MGM Grand-from $50/night, Monte Carlo- from $40/night, Planet Hollywood- from $59/night, Mirage- from $70/night, Flamingo- from $35/night, Treasure Island

The best pools are located at Mandalay Bay and MGM Grand, Monte Carlo also is supposed to have a very nice pool area.  Mandalay Bay is a beach with real sand under the lounge chairs, a wave pool, and a great lazy river along with a beachside casino.  It's my favorite hotel.

To get an idea of costs, we usually spend $700-$1000 on air/hotel (the flight is the expensive part).  We take $100/day for food, that will cover one large buffet (lunchtime $15-$23pp), and then snacks, drinks, and a late night fast food meal and maybe even a breakfast.  We take $100/day for miscellaneous expenses such as daquiris, attractions, souvenirs, etc.  We take $200/day for gambling ($100 each) and I usually have some left over to spend on other things.  If we want to see any shows, we budget those in advance and go by how much they are.  You can usually find discounts online, and even if you wait until you get there you can get discount tickets to a lot of shows.  The better shows run about $75-$150, but there are magic shows, comedy shows, variety shows, etc that can run about $20.

There are so many things to do, my favorite being just walking down the strip and stopping in every hotel on the way.  Each hotel is themed so none of them are the same and it is neat to see how the inside of the hotel goes with the themen the outside.  All of the hotels have great attractions you can visit and the attractions run about $15-$25.  Here is a website with all of the different things to do http://www.vegas.com/attractions/  There are also a lot of free attractions that are awesome such as the Bellagio Fountains and the Sirens of TI- a free show in front of Treasure Island every night.  Some romantic activities include taking a ride to the top of the Eiffel Tower or eating a meal at the Top of the World restaurant at the top of the Stratosphere (tallest building in the west).

If you need anymore information at all, please feel free to message me, I love talking Vegas!

I've been to both, and I've been to Vegas many times.

It really comes down to what you want to do for activities! Vegas is an exciting place. It could certainly be romantic, depending on what you want to do. There are plenty of really great shows to see (you can get discounted tickets once you are there), beautiful hotsl to tour, and fun evenings. If yo uare a night life, action type person, I'd pick Vegas

Bermuda is VERY beautiful. It is laid back. Not much nightlife. Gorgeous beaches. Think ocean, flowers, fruity cocktails, friendly people.

I suggest going into tripadvisor.com forums, and seeing what others are posting for questions to gain insight on both areas. You can also look under "thngs to do" on trip advisor to see top activities.
