I was just looking up the Whitsundays for our honeymoon! So beautiful!

Can’t say I have any experience in weddings there but I would say flights and hotels can be expensive for your guests and might mean less people are able to go. Also some times of the year are better than others (regarding wet season/cyclones).

If you’re looking for something very small though I’m sure it’ll be spectacular!

If you call I’d also ask about expected costs (or packages?) for things like flowers, hair/makeup, celebrant… As they might also be a bit more expensive due to lack of choice out there.

It’s so lovely to think about warm sunny beaches now we’re getting into winter!!

I’m getting married on Hamilton in September! It is so beautiful there. I was againt a DW at first but FI convinced me once he showed me the deals that can be found for flights and accomodation. My concern was that no one would travel because Hamilton is expensive being a privately owned island. But websites like stayz.com.au have accomodation for cheaper than direct with the island, and flight centre often have very good holiday packages.  As for the actual wedding costs, we’re looking at $20k for evrything for 52 people which I consider on par with having a Sydney wedding actually (where I live). The reception venues have minimum spends instead of minimum guest number which is good, there are so many locations available, we’re having our ceremony on casteye beach anD reception bythe pool. You also get a wedding planner who is your go between for the suppliers on the island which is so helpful, I havent been stressed at all with planning. Speakng of suppliers though, as the island is privately owned you dont have a choice for suppliers, ie, you cant choose between different photographers for example, or decorations hire.

If you have any specific questions I’d be happy to help you out!

Just don’t go running into the water at high tide! I did and cut my foot on one of the many pieces of rock/coral out there. It’s beautiful but a bit deceiving when the water’s high. Anyway, a wedding there would be gorgeous. I didn’t get married there but I’m jealous of those who do!

Candice1990:  yep 15k for 50 people is totally doable. I just redid my sums for mine, 52 people including me and FI, and we are coming out closer to 15k than 20k
