We can’t have a transfer this month because we are waiting on insurance approval and PGS so we tried ourselves. I don’t have a lot of hope since we tried for over a year before starting treatments. However, I did the Clomid challenge test so wonder if that would help. DH is taking FertilAid too. Just trying to keep the faith. I didn’t track ovulation so I have no idea if we dtd during my fertile window. I think/hope so though. Any stories?

Not personally, but two friends went through years of struggling and two rounds of IVF each that failed. Then both got pregnant naturally. One swears by acupuncture. The other was just good luck I guess. So it’s possible!

Glasgowbound : << YES. I had a friend who gave up after 7 years and conceived naturally, she swears by acupuncture as well. I’m looking into it now as well.lol
Prettysmile40 : what is the “clomid challenge test”?

Prettysmile40 : Unfortunatly no one I know and I don’t think I saw anyone on ivf boards get pregnant without treatments

My best friend did! she was on chlomid and then IVF and tried it for 5 years. She got tired of all the treatments and decided to give up. 6 months later she conceived a baby girl. She attributes it to taking prescription dose Vitamin D because she found out her levels were low.

I know of one couple who hadn’t gone through fertility treatments yet, but had put down a deposit for their first round of IVF and were scheduled to start within the following month or two when she finally got her BFP. They had been trying for 4 years, and she’s currently around 24 weeks.

We have friends who needed IVF to conceive their first baby, but then went on to have 3 more naturally without any trouble.

I did. We tried for 18 months for baby #1. I have PCOS so I was alternating BC to keep my cysts under control and 3 rounds of Clomid. We were prepping for IUI in November and I was off Clomid and got pregnant off meds in October right after having and HSG done to make sure my tubes were clear for the IUI. Then baby #2 took 1 round of provera to jump start my period then 1 round of Clomid, so first month trying.

Me 🙋 We tried for 2.5 years with no luck. We were approved for IVF and had all the drugs at home ready, I was just waiting for my period to start before starting the down regs. 4 days before going to learn how to do the injections, and on a whim, I took a test and it was a BFP!!! My little boy is now 6 months old.

I have one friend who got pregnant while waiting to get into see the doctor. I think she was on Clomid her OB had prescribed. She’s a unicorn though- didn’t work that way for 90% of my other friends (including us) who had to do IUI/ IVF to get pregnant.

eeniebeans : That scenario is more common than what OP asked about. My RE says sometimes going through IVF/IUI for the 1st “jump starts” your fertility for subsequent pregnancies, especially if your diagnosis is “unexplained.”

A friend of mine had been seeing doctors to help her get pregnant, she had (I think ) a progestin deficiency. She went in for a treatment, and before the treatment they gave her a pregnancy test as a matter of routine.
They came back into the room and said they didn’t have to do the treatment, she was pregnant. Her son is 20 years old now.
