I am so confused. I am trying to get an idea of prices for a destination wedding. Packages for a wedding of approx 75 guest and I have no idea. I would love feedback from someone who has done this recently.

I would love to have an idea of how much was spent in total. What packages did the hotel put together?

I would love some direction. THANKS

I recently did a wedding for a client for 40 people and the couple picked almost all of their own vendors (not many restrictions from the hotel).  In the end, they spent $25,000 (not including rings, attire, honeymoon).  They did not pay for travel for guests---only the rehearsal dinner.

I would suggest contacting hotels that you like and have them give you a general price quote.  There are many things that factor into the cost---the type of hotel you pick, their requirements on vendors that you use, how fancy the things are that you pick (chair covers, fancy cake, expensive food and drinks, etc).

The current economic situation combined with Mexico's PR issues make for the perfect storm to do some serious negotiating. There are tons of nice hotels and with a party that large you should be able to negotiate a reduced room rate for all. Consider a reasonably priced all inclusive. This will help you keep costs down. I got married in Jamaica at a brand new AI and we booked rooms for 100/person night. Our wedding package came to $3000 which included cake, dinner, ceremony, wedding license, champagne toast and photographer. Hope that this helps.

Are you looking at the Riviera Maya area or more on the west coast?  The prices do vary between the two locations.  If we had gone with our hotel for the ceremony and reception it would have cost us about $3K for ceremony and reception.  Plus our hotel and plane tickets.  Once you have over 40 people many of the hotels will charge a per person cost for dinner (about $55-70 avg).   Get a good TA.  They can help you navigate everything including the packages the hotel has to offer. =)
