Has anyone had a suspicious mole removed that ended up being fine?

My mom has had quite a few. I am developing some moles and should go get them checked out soon to create a base line.

I did! It was on the back of my upper arm, so I had never really been able to see it. My friend spotted it and it had a lighter patch around the dark mole, and the lighter patch had uneven borders. I was in Rome at the time on study abroad, so i had to wait almost 3 months to even get it looked at, and then the excision was a couple months after that.

It turned out to be nothing! It’s always good to get it checked and its good that you’re keeping up with it since you have a family history. If you stay watchful and get it early you are way ahead of the game!

My mom did.  It ws very ugly and changed colors and shape but it was fine.  They removed it and it came back.  I think she got it checked again.

Hopefully its fine, and rest assured that skin cancer is one of the most treatable kinds. My father had it in his 20s and no problems since.

I did! Also I have a couple moles that have 1 or 2 of those “suspicious” characteristics, but I’ve had them my whole life, so they’re obviously not cancer. However, I have no experience with a blue tint. Good luck, I bet it’ll be fine!

@Deejayelle:  I did and it was totally fine. However I have sort of olive-y skin and brown eyes. Your complexion has a lot to do with the risk of skin cancer. My super fair skinned, blonde, blue-eyed friends on the other hand have Stage 1 melanoma, one mole on her back and one girl’s is on her thigh.

I did and it was fine. Also my mom has this almost every time she goes in. Plus, both my grandma and aunt have had moles removed that DID turn out to be cancerous but because of the type, removal was the only treatment necessary and they are 100% fine (important to keep in mind that on the small tiny chance it IS cancerous, only a small tiny percentage of those are actually life threatening. Most you just chop and move on).
