@mspride11:  We didn’t get married on a cruise but went on a Carnival Cruise for our honeymoon and loved it.  Which ship?  I’m looking up some wedding info for you and will post thatin a second…

Here are some boards that might help:

Cruise Critic’s Honeymoon & Wedding Cruises  Board http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=31

Carnival’s Bahamas Boardhttp://www.carnival.com/Funville/forums/280.aspx

If you tell me what ship you will be on, I can pull up that board as well.  Plus, I may be able to tell you if I know anything about it!

Take advantage of the cruising message boards.  They are very friendly and I found so much valuable info before i went on our honeymoon cruise!

i have two friends that did this and both loved it. they both got married on the ship, while in port in the US so they didn’t have to worry about whether the marriage was legal in the US or not. i think they both had family members get ordained to marry them.

@mspride11: that’s what i would do too…..courthouse before and then you can have the ceremony whenever/wherever you want. in that case it could be awesome to have the ceremony on the beach if possible!

@mspride11: We are on the Paradise.. it’s outta Long Beach, and we will be married on the ship while it’s docked at Catalina Island (still technically in the US so I dont have to worry bout the outta country issue). Saving up the money and booking was the single most stressful part of it all– I too was SO worried someone would take our date.

Once you book, they send you info about cakes, videography, favors, photography prices (SO EFFING EXPENSIVE). The only suggestion I would have is even though it has perks, dont do a group booking unless you have at least 8 cabins worth of people ready to put a down payment. They only give you like a month and a half with the ‘special rate & cruise credit’ and we had to scramble. Honestly, it would have been better to just have each person book their own cabin individually.

If you have questions, dont hesitate to message me! I am glad to help any way that I can!!

They got married while in port in San Diego, CA. The ONLY cruise liner who can perform weddings @ Sea is Princess. Their ceremony was Followed by on-ship luncheon. They had guests who sailed and some who didn’t. Prior to sailing the non-sailing guests disembark. You have plenty of time to plan since you have about 11 months, we planned this in about 10 weeks! They do assign a “liaison” to you who is most likely in Florida so you will interact via phone & e-mail. I will tell you that your decision- making process will be easier since the ship has many limitations with decor, such as NO CANDLES, NO bubbles, NO fresh flowers can be brought on-board with the exception of those arranged through Carnival’s floral vendor.  Check this link out, it will answer some questions. http://www.carnival.com/cms/fun/weddings/weddings.aspx

Let me know if i can answer other questions, this is all that popped into my head.
