Sorry, I can’t help you in the Australia venue choices, but I just wanted to pop in and say my friend got married in a school camp last year and it was beautiful and fun! Definitely leans toward a more casual affair. They had the reception in front of the lake, as their backdrop, and everyone sat on benches that were already built in, and the wedding party were on a stage that they already have there for plays. Everyone came up and reception was served in the mess hall/ cafeteria. They strung lights and there was plenty of room!

Another great option was that you could stay in the cabins for just 25/nt which was great because we didn’t have to drive away!

It was fun!

nessdawwg:  how did you finding a venue? If you haven’t had any luck yet, I’m getting married at the TreeTops Scout Camp in Cohuna next February.

It’s $300 for Friday Morning to Sunday afternoon. It has a log cabin, showers, toilets, power, bbq, kitchen, shed, table chairs etc.. it’s on about 50 acres and Gunbower creek runs onto it as well as Gunbower State Forest backing onto it.

If you don’t know Cohuna, it’s about 25km out if Kerang. Or if you think of the middle of Echuca and Bendigo, then go slightly more toward Echuca.

Hope this helps, I stumbled across it accidentally. I can assure you, it’s gorgeous out there!
