I just had a follow-up appointment with my doctor, who wants me to get an HSG done. They booked me in for cd17 to do the HSG. I’m on clomid right now. I don’t usually O without it, and with it, the earliest I’ve ever O’d was cd21. Neither my doctor or the place where the HSG is done were concerned as long as I’m not pregnant, which I won’t be. Do you think it’ll be okay?
Also, I know there are some concerns about being on metformin and doing the HSG. Something about the dye and the metformin interacting or not being good for your liver. My doctor had no idea what I was talking about when I asked him, but I’ve heard of people having to stop metformin a few days before the HSG until the day after the HSG. Has anyone had to stop their metformin for the HSG here?

It seems strange to do it so late BUT if they are monitoring and know you havent ovulated yet then obviously they know you aren’t pregnant so they feel happy enough to do it. I’m being booked in on CD7 (once AF shows) to do my HyCoSy (basically the same thing) because rather than monitor they are using end of AF plus 2 days and my history of Oing on approx CD16 to figure I won’t be pregnant at that stage.
Good luck with it all – everyone says the few months following a HSG are extra fertile so fingers crossed it works for you 🙂

as long as it is done before you ovulate it is ok. i am am early ovulater, so when i got my SHG and HSG they had to be done within 10 days.

I had mine done on CD10, but the point of that was to just make sure it’s done before ovulation and there is ZERO chance you are pregnant. If you don’t O any earlier than CD21 and are being monitored, then it’s fine though.

I’m not being monitored. This is all through my gyno. They were leary about making the appointment for that day, but because my cycles are irregular and they usually book up really quickly, they had a hard time trying to figure out a good time to book it for. I always know a few days before I’m going to O though, so for once in my life I’m going to hope I don’t O early!
ShellVee: Good luck with your HyCoSy! I hope you get your BFP soon!
