One of the things I didn’t think about when ordering my dress is the back, which has a zipper all the way up. Kind of blah. Has anyone had buttons added overtop the zipper after their dress came in?
How much did it cost you, and how long did it take? (I’ll only have a month for alterations! Ack!)

I ordered buttons when I ordered my dress so I could spruce up a semi-boring back, and I believe the number of buttons I needed (it will depend on the length of your zipper) cost about $175…but it’s been awhile so I’m not positive on the price.
As for time, I would assume it wouldn’t take much time at all to sew them all – it’s just a matter of how long it would take for them to come in. I would give your bridal salon a call asap.

Thinking about it, because the bustle buttons on my dress are beautifully beaded and I’d love that all the way up the back 🙂

@mrs-j-to-be: Thanks! I unfortunately don’t have the dress yet (time crunch, I know) and am having alterations done at another salon as opposed to the salon where I bought the gown, so I’m not sure whether they’ll have the same dress on the rack to match and order buttons.
Guess I’ll have to give them a call to talk shop…maybe they can order the buttons in advance of me having the gown, since there won’t be much time for alterations as it is.

I did! The buttons themselves cost $30 (I’m sure you could find them cheaper if you knew where to look – I didn’t so the bridal shop just ordered them from the manufacturer of my dress for me). My seamstress charged $1/button to sew them on and to add the loops (so I think that was another $30 maybe). She had my dress for about a month, but she was doing lots of other alterations too.
