This makes me think of my sister and her wedding. A couple months before she got married, her photographer stopped returning her calls and emails. Turns out he skipped town and she never heard from him again. Her wedding insurance was through Travelers. From what I heard, her experience with them was really good. She didn't have a deductible and she got her deposit refunded quickly so she could get a new photographer. Then the tornados hit the south this past year. Because of what happend to her and unpredictable weather, I purchased my own policy from Travelers. Hoping nothing happens with my wedding!
You might be confused as to what your venue is asking you...
Wedding Insurance: Provides YOU with coverage incase one of your vendors does not keep their end of the contract.
If your venue asked for wedding insurance, they are probably asking to be added as an additional insured to your homeowners policy that way if one of your guests gets hurt on their property your insurance will pay for it.
I'd ask to be sure but I'd be willing to bet it's the second one. And your insurance company should be willing to add them for the day.
@Megan316: She said that her venue requires liability insurance which is what you are describing.
I needed to get liability insurance as well and got a policy through Wedsure and added other protection for postponement, cancellation, theft etc..
we had to get wedding insurance. we went through travelers. quick and easy process, and never had to use it. we did, however, end up using our honeymoon insurance! :-(

My venue requires wedding liability insurance, so it's not really a question of should I have it at all, but more a question of how much and from where?
I know that there is WedSure which looks quick and easy and there is WedSafe where you choose which aspects you want covered. The other option would be to add an extention to our home owner's insurance. I'm not sure if I need everything covered or should I pick and choose?
So, has anyone had to use their wedding insurance if so, who did you use and how smoothly did the process go? Or did anyone wish that they had had insurance?
