I was browsing rings at a jeweller at the Gold Coast last week and became interested in a new style of stone as an alternative to diamonds at <10% of the cost. The process is called Diamond Fusion and they state it’s similar to seed pearls, where they seed the oyster then let the real pearl cover the seed. So they create the fake diamond centre then cover it with what they say is a real diamond cover …
I know my stones, have my heart set on a 1.5ct Ideal Cut, and had never thought about not getting a diamond – but I was extremely impressed with how life-like these imposters were! So much so that I am seriously considering saving my BF $15,000 and buying one. The 7.5mm fused diamond (a steal at $450) had the appearance of about an E-F/VVS. My only concern is how they would last over time, whether they go cloudy etc. Also I would like to see them in daylight rather than the 100 downlights in the store.
Has anyone had any experience with this stone? Thanks! 🙂
