Hey bees! I’m wondering if anyone here would share their experience with purchasing a semi-custom built home. In the area we are looking to buy, there are companies that will lay all the ground work and floor plans for a home – so when you purchase, the square footage, lot, and blueprint are already determined. Then you get to pick the floors, cabinets, granite, appliances, fixtures, etc. This is very appealing to me becase (a) I like new builds, and (b) I’m a little nit-picky about colours/finishes.
I also like that, in the particular neighborhoods we are looking, there are just one or two of these houses here and there…it’s not like we would be moving into a subdivision where every single house is one of three cookie-cutter designs. These areas are mainly older homes, so even the new builds are designed to look classic rather than modern, and they blend in well.
Have any of you purchased a home in this way? Would you recommend it to others? Can you offer any advice? Thanks in advance!!
