I honestly dont think the shred is enough to lose 20lbs.

I did the shred for about 27/28 days or so and I toned up a bit, but i didnt lose a ton of weight. I realized I needed to add more cardio into my routine and now i feel like im on my way! hehe

I don't know anything about the shred personally but I know that it is really hard to lose weight from exercise alone.

I just got the disk and the cover it says Lose 20 lbs in 30 days so I thought that was a pretty big claim to say.

I feel the same as HoneyBear because I did the shred for a month and didn't really lose weight, but rather toned up a bit. I don't think it is enough as a stand alone workout to lose that much weight unless you are seriously dieting at the same time.

I feel like most of the girls on here.. doing a work out on its own and not dieting is hard.. Plus the DVD people always want you to be on a diet or take "vitamins" to help you lose weight.. I would always recommand to run.. Running has done magics for me.. i loved the way i feel and yes it takes time to lose weight and yes i did have to eat less but it works..

Oh i never done the Shred but i know for sure that if someone is really heave they can lose weight a lot faster than someone who only wants to lose say 10-15 pounds.

I can see how the shred could make you loose a lot of weight if you are really overweight/obese and really never do exercise.  Combine the 30 minutes a day with a hard core diet, and I bet you might see the pounds come off.  For someone like myself (pretty typical I think) I might loose 5 pounds but most of that is because I am trying to change some of my eating habits as well.

I think I lost around 8lbs when I last did the 30 day shred. I get the feeling it really depends on body type and metabolism and various other factors. It's not like a "one size fits all" kind of thing. But with the shred and a change of diet I don't see why you couldn't lose that much.

@Lees- you should get this! I got it this weekend and a lighter set of weights - 3 lb. They basically make you do regular kind of exercises one after another for 20 or 30 minutes straight. Sit ups, push ups, cardio, lunges, etc, all mixed together. The DVD was $9 at Target. PS: Your other post totally made me pumped to lose my little problem areas, too. Giddy-up!!

I think it's possible to lose 20 lbs in 30 days, sure - but you'd have to be probably overweight and really kicking ass. For me, i think that if i did this for 30 days and watched what I ate, I could probably lose up to 5 lbs or at least start to build more endurance / tone muscles. I'm going to jamaica in 30 days so i was hoping to get totally ripped, since I didn't think to exercise before the actual wedding haha.

@Melissa: Thank you girl!!! Wow, only $9. That's good! I'll def. be going to Target tonight then & buying it!! I'm really wanting to get commited & it's hard to always go to the gym, so this might be just what I need!

Oh and Melissa me & you both have to get toned in 30 days!! Let's see how we do :)

The Shred is on Cable On Demand here in NY... we are Time Warner user.  It's channel 724.  I have done it 3 times over the past 6 days... I am in pain! haha

I don't think you could lose that much from exercise alone, period.

With a diet change combined with the Shred, I'd say someone that has 40 or 50 lbs to lose probably could. I only have about 10-15 to lose, and they're being really stubborn. I know I've lost fat on the Shred, and toned up, but not sure about losing weight. I didn't really have diet changes to make, as I've been consistently eating healthy for awhile now. The only change I made was making homemade meals an extra 2 nights a week.

I don't even think that is healthy unless MAYBE you are very overweight and it is dr. approved.  I used the shred as PART of an overall weight loss program and lost about 15 pounds in 2 months, mostly in my middle section.

I wasn't really going to change my diet around just because I figure I'm pretty fit with the way I am now, and with excersizing it'd only help. But, what types of foods are good to eat? Are salads truly "healthier" with ranch dressing, what about grilled chicken?!

Unless you are extremely overweight you shouldn't be losing 20 lbs in 30 days. It's medically recommended that people lose at a rate of 1-2lbs a week. To do this all you need to do is eat less calories than you burn. It's all just simple science.

i keep wanting to pick this up.. i go to the gym about 3 times a week but this would be a good add on or i can do it in the mornings if i feel it might not be an easy week to get to the gym. Bah! i do need to start eating less though... so hard.

i think i might run to target this week!

The Shred includes a diet program.  The fine print says you have to do BOTH to lose the 20lbs.  And yes, if you adhere STRICTLY to both, you will lose 20lbs.  I lost 20lbs, but I stretched it out over two months because I couldn't Shred everyday.  I went down two sizes and I was pretty toned and ready for my marathon!

I went to Target & got the 30 day shred just a few minutes ago! :) I'm so excited to start!! I'm going to work out to it as often as I can. I hope I can still lose the weight even without doing the diet plan!

I've been doing this for a couple weeks - I agree that it is a great program to tone you up but won't cause you to drop pounds without some other changes.

I was pleasantly surprised at how sore I was after the first day with it only being a 20 minute workout!

Really piper?! That's exactly what I want to do is tone up. I mean, I'd like to lose about 5 pounds but that's about it. I really would like to get rid of these stupid love handles that drive me crazy! I bet you're right though, after tonight I'm going to be really sore!!

I agree with what a lot fo the other bees have said, I think the main thing is you have to add cardio.  I'm using the Shred to tone up, but for weight loss I depend on cardio!  (45 minutes a day!)

Woo!! I just did the Level 1 on the video. Am I supposed to do Level 2 & 3 at the same time? If that was a 20 minute work out, you're right Piper it did go by fast! Am I supposed to work up to the Level 2 & 3 as I progress? I hope that just the Level 1 was workout enough because I am beat! That was intense!

Yay, good job!!!!!  You definitely just do one level at a time. :)  The idea is to work your way up.  Pretty soon level one will be a piece of cake.  Then you move on to level two!

that would be a really unhealthy amount of weight to lose in a month.  You can't expect to lose that much that fast.

Time Warner girls... I need help.  How can I find it onDemand?  I'm sure the exact channel numbers are different in different cities.  I can't find it though. I tried searching multiple titles it might be and couldn't find it. Any ideas?

So I went to the website where Jillian has the diet plan, too. I know you can get a 30 day trial but can anyone share some of the meals that on the website!??!? :) :) :)

    Yes, I'm cheating!

I've on day 7 of the shred right now and I love it.  I'm pretty overweight, but I know my body and I know my metabolism, and I know there was no way I was going to lose 20 lbs in 30 days.  lol  But, like everyone else says, I so believe it depends on your body type.  I'm thinking about doing the shred in the morning (I'm a morning person by force lol) and then do a lower intensity workout in the evenings.  Kind of staying w/ the Jillian Michaels/Biggest Loser theme, I picked up the yoga for weightloss by the other training on Biggest Loser.  I'm pretty excited to try that!
