@Coral99:  We got one of those, too!  Hope FI didn’t throw it away…

We were planning to register at Target anyway.  😛

We did it for the gift card (we registered at target too, but everyone bought from amazon).  Plus I think target gives you a 10% discount on all the items that weren’t purchased after your wedding.

@Coral99:  Yes we did and yes they hand the card right over (you may need to remind them). That is the ONLY reason we registered at Target and frankly it was a pain in the ass to deal with including actually registering, editing our registry and returning items.

I would recommend just putting the 20 items on there and leaving it be. Don’t use it as your main registry.

@Coral99:  Did you do any dress shopping at David’s Bridal?

Actually, I remember reading an article about this. Target tracks your purchases – especially if you use a customer loyalty card or the Target credit card in store. They can guess with a high degree of accuracy what’s going on in your life.

I remember in the article, it spoke of an irate father who called target screaming, because they had sent coupon booklets for baby items to the house, addressed to his teenage duaghter.
A week later he called and apologized… turns out Target knew his daughter was pregnant before he did!

It’s a little creepy. I always keep it in mind when I use a “loyalty” (really a tracking) card.

@Coral99:  Ugh it is all true, all of it. We did advertise our Target registry for the bridal showers only and even that was a hassle.

Do it, get the gift card and don’t tell anyone. I would even suggest registering for items you know YOU will buy and then you can get the gift card and 10% off.

@Coral99:  I have heard when you initially give them your name/info at that first appointment that a lot of people get your info from there.  After I went there I suddenly “won” all of these free bridal things…amazing!
