Several of my friends have sold their dresses. It really depends on what size the dress is, if you had alterations done, how popular the dress is. If it is a dress that is widely available and many brides have tried it on it is much easier/faster to sell. They know what they are getting and what size they need etc. If you are short you will have a hard time selling your dress. If you want to resell your dress ideally all you have done to it is bustle and maybe pull in the top slightly or have it made into a sweetheart neckline. The more alterations the harder it is to sell. DB dress and AA dresses sell pretty fast especially in larger sizes. I now brides that got back 70%. I know brides that only got back 30% after waiting a year to sell theirs. Hope this helps. Depending on how complicated the dress is you might think about a knockoff.

I paid $1800 for my dress and sold it for $800. It did take about 7 months to sell. The only alterations I had done were the bustle and it let out about 2 cm in the chest area. I also had it dry cleaned the Monday after the wedding.
