My husband and I went to the Sandals Grande in St. Lucia in July.  We never went to La Toc, but we went by it on a boat.  What we didn’t like about it (just by looking at it from a boat) is that the property is built on a mountain…so getting to the beach is a steep hike. I know a lot of people who used the pool at the Grande came over from La Toc.  I’m not sure about the cats.  When we went to dinner at Halcyon (Sandals other property in St. Lucia) we saw A LOT of cats!  What we loved about the Grande was that we were right on the beach, and it is a great mix of fun activities and peaceful lounging spots around the pool.  We also didn’t see any cats at the Grande.  After talking to other couples who stayed at La Toc and Halycon, we were really glad that we choose the Grande.  We hope to go back some day!!!  Please let me know if you have any other questions 🙂

We stayed there for 7 nights on our honeymoon.

Yes! There are lots of cats. I made friends with one that stayed outside my room.

We were so glad we stayed at La Toc. Halcyon was too quiet and the Grande was too hectic. La Toc was right in the middle.

It was nice; however I think the pictures in the magazine make it look like paradise when it’s just like every other Caribbean resort.

@MrsP0801:  We chose the garden view instead of the beach view cuz it was cheaper. Plus I didn’t plan on sitting in my room looking at the beach; I wanted to be on the beach 😉

The water was pretty rough. The beach was nice. We also went on the beach at the Grande and the water was much calmer. We were able to snorkel since it was so calm.

Our room was like a 2 minute walk to the beach.

@MrsP0801:  DH and I got married at Sandals La Toc this past May. It was the best place we ve ever been to hands down. Theres a few cats around there, but they arent bothersome. We re massive animal lovers, so we totally provoked it by feeding them fish from our plates. Aside from that, they werent really present all that often. We would go back in a heartbeat!

@MrsP0801:  we stayed in a garden view room bc it was cheaper. but the majority of time was spent out of our room so it was no big deal. we loved everything about sandals. great service, great food and so much fun! if you re concerned about the beach, the one at sandals grande is better. super calm water and crystal clear. water at la toc was a bit choppy for my taste

Mr TTR & I went to St Lucia on our Honeymoon (Cruise Ship Stop)

We went snorkelling for the Afternoon at the Anse de Piton Marine Reserve which is at the base of the Pitons (Pitons Bay), and shares beachfront with the Viceroy Sugar Beach Resort (at Jalhousie Plantation) in the south end of St Lucia.

We took a boat that sailed south from the town of Castries and on past most of the West Coast of St Lucia.  We went right by Sandals La Toc, and altho it looked nice / colourful from the water, as others have said it very clearly is on a hillside (lots of up of down walking).

PHOTO – Sandals La Toc

BUT this is also part of the reality that is St Lucia… which is a volcanic island… in so much as it was “thrust” out of the ocean in an upward movement… so getting around on land on this island is not easy (which is WHY many prefer to travel by boat)

The Island gets progressively more mountainous the farther south you go… so you might want to consider one of the older Sandals properties to the north… Grande St Lucian & Halcyon Beach

Hope this helps,
